Locations of Raids and Detentions
The NIA teams conducted searches in Pawasar village in Hathin (Palwal) and Tauru in Nuh, targeting homes and premises of individuals suspected of having links with foreign intelligence networks. Law enforcement sources confirmed that three suspects were detained in Pawasar, while five others were apprehended in Tauru. The operation involved coordination between the NIA, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and local Special Task Forces to ensure that suspects could not evade questioning and that evidence was preserved.
Preliminary intelligence indicated that the network may have been established by a Pakistani national posing as a resident of Srinagar, who allegedly used the Mewat region as a base to recruit locals and establish contacts over time. Authorities are probing whether the detained individuals knowingly or unknowingly facilitated espionage activities, including passing sensitive information to foreign operatives. The simultaneous raids reflect the meticulous planning and intelligence-gathering undertaken by security agencies to prevent potential threats.
Local law enforcement in Mewat has heightened vigilance, and residents have been urged to cooperate with investigative agencies. The NIA’s action is part of broader efforts to identify and neutralise foreign intelligence operations within India.
