AYODHYA: Ram Navami 2026 was celebrated with unmatched enthusiasm and devotion in Ayodhya, drawing thousands of devotees from across the country to mark the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Ram. The focal point of this year’s celebrations was the grand Surya Tilak ceremony held at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, an event that seamlessly blended spirituality with scientific precision.

At exactly noon, a specially designed system of mirrors and lenses directed a beam of sunlight into the sanctum sanctorum, illuminating the forehead of Ram Lalla for a few sacred minutes. The Surya Tilak, symbolising divine blessings from the suryavanshi lineage of Bhagwan Ram, stood as a powerful representation of India’s rich cultural heritage fused with technological advancement.

The ceremony was witnessed by dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and millions across the country watched the celebrations with reverence and pride.

To ensure that a larger number of devotees could participate in the moment, temple authorities arranged live screenings across the city. This allowed thousands, who could not enter the temple premises due to crowd restrictions, to witness the Surya Tilak ceremony. The initiative was widely appreciated as it ensured inclusivity while maintaining order during the massive influx of visitors.

The city of Ayodhya remained immersed in a deeply spiritual atmosphere throughout the day. Devotees, after taking a holy dip in nearby ghats, thronged temples across the city to offer prayers. The air resonated with chants of “Jai Shri Ram,” reflecting the collective devotion and enthusiasm of the pilgrims.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the Surya Tilak as a symbol of faith, pride, and spiritual awakening. In his message, he emphasised that the radiant tilak represents the resurgence of Sanatan culture and inspires a renewed sense of strength and self-respect among citizens. He also linked the spiritual significance of the event with the broader vision of a “Developed and Self-Reliant India.”

Given the scale of the celebrations, the district administration implemented elaborate security arrangements across Ayodhya. Senior officials continuously monitored the situation, ensuring smooth crowd management and safety. Police personnel were strategically deployed at key locations, while surveillance systems were enhanced to handle the massive gathering.

Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner Rajesh Kumar noted that a “tidal wave of faith” had swept through the city, with devotees visible at every corner. He highlighted that top officials were personally supervising arrangements to maintain order and ensure that the celebrations proceeded without disruption.

The Surya Tilak ceremony not only captivated devotees but also drew attention for its innovative execution. By combining ancient beliefs with modern engineering, the event showcased how tradition and science can coexist harmoniously.

As the celebrations concluded, Ayodhya stood as a testament to India’s enduring spiritual legacy and its ability to adapt age-old traditions to contemporary times. Ram Navami 2026 will be remembered not just for its scale but for the profound symbolism of the Surya Tilak—a moment where sunlight, faith, and devotion converged in divine harmony.
