From March 9 to March 15, 2026, a deeply disturbing pattern of targeted violence and hostility against Hindu individuals, families, and religious institutions emerged across India and beyond, reflecting a wider ecosystem of communal tension and aggressive proselytisation. Incidents ranged from abductions, sexual violence, and forced religious conversions to the desecration of temples and sacred symbols, alongside coordinated harassment both on the ground and in digital spaces. In several cases across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, and Chhattisgarh, perpetrators allegedly used deception to gain the trust of vulnerable individuals, particularly young women and minors, before subjecting them to coercion, abuse, and forced marriage under religious pretexts. Families reported being intimidated for practising their faith openly, whether through devotional music or visible religious symbols, pointing to a troubling trend where everyday expressions of Hindu identity are increasingly being challenged or targeted.

The developments were not confined to India alone, as similar patterns surfaced internationally, affecting the Hindu diaspora in countries like the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and even the United States. From violent attacks on Indian-origin shopkeepers in London to temple desecrations in Bangladesh and Malaysia, and the abduction and forced conversion of a minor Dalit Hindu girl in Sindh, the incidents underscored a persistent vulnerability faced by Hindu communities globally. The digital sphere further amplified these tensions, with threats of violence, hate speech, and coordinated misinformation campaigns adding to the climate of fear. In this backdrop, it becomes imperative for us at Organiser to uphold their responsibility as a voice for Hindus, documenting these incidents with clarity, amplifying unheard voices, and ensuring that the concerns of the community are neither diluted nor ignored in the broader discourse.

March 09, 2026

During this time, Bajrang Dal district coordinator Vinay Singh reached the spot after learning about the incident and handed over the young man to the police. He also accompanied the girl’s mother to the police station, where a written complaint was filed.

In her complaint, the mother alleged that the young man, a resident of Purani Patti, had been in contact with her minor daughter and had been seen near their house on multiple occasions. A series of violent incidents reported in early March 2026 in the Harrow and Wembley areas of London left several Indian-origin shopkeepers and business owners affected, with one man sustaining stab injuries and multiple establishments subjected to vandalism.

According to reports, the incidents occurred over several days in areas including Ealing Road and Harrow Road, known for a concentration of Indian shops and restaurants. One of the affected establishments was a restaurant on Ealing Road, which was reportedly attacked twice, on 5 March and 7 March 2026. Visuals circulating from the incidents showed individuals entering the premises, overturning tables and chairs, scattering crockery and food, and damaging lights and furniture.

A shopkeeper in the area stated that the violence began earlier in the week at a nearby shopping complex, where three individuals were allegedly assaulted in a restroom. A Hindu woman from Mudhol in Karnataka’s Bagalkot district has accused a Muslim man of coercing her into religious conversion and marriage, before subjecting her to abuse, financial exploitation, and eventual abandonment.

The victim, identified as Sridevi, approached the office of the Superintendent of Police seeking action after alleging that Safiq Qureshi manipulated her into a relationship and gradually pressured her to renounce her Hindu faith. According to her complaint, he insisted that she convert to Islam and adopt a new identity, after which she was made to undergo a nikah ceremony.

Sridevi, who belongs to the Kuruba community, had been previously married within her community and has children from that marriage. While working in Mudhol, she came into contact with the accused, who built a relationship with her over time and promised marriage. She alleges that he convinced her to separate from her earlier marriage and then began pressuring her to convert.

Under sustained coercion and threats, she converted to Islam and her name was changed to Habiba. The marriage was formalised through nikah on 7 February 2023. However, according to her statement, the situation deteriorated soon after.

According to locals, the group had been visiting households for nearly two days, attempting to build familiarity and trust with villagers. During these interactions, they reportedly told families that those facing illness, financial hardship, or personal distress could attend special prayer sessions, claiming such prayers would help resolve their problems.

The outreach drew attention after local Hindu activists intercepted the group near the village and questioned their activities. The confrontation led to a heated verbal exchange, during which pamphlets and printed material being distributed were seized. Activists alleged that economically vulnerable villagers were being specifically targeted through inducements and emotional appeals.

The situation led to tensions in the village, following which several residents, including Sarpanch Gendli Bai, Patel Anar Singh, Himmat Singh, Bhawani Singh, Gulab Singh, and Gendalal, submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate seeking intervention. They requested removal of the alleged encroachment and a halt to the ongoing construction.

Villagers also stated that they would initiate an agitation if timely action was not taken. The case status indicates that a complaint has been filed, and further administrative action is awaited.

23. Hindu Man Abducted and Killed by muslim man in Pirojpur, Bangladesh

A 45-year-old Hindu man, Gopal Chandra Das, was abducted and killed in Nesarabad Upazila, Pirojpur district, Bangladesh. His decapitated body was discovered on March 14, 2026, near a riverbank inside the premises of a brick kiln. The victim, a resident of Gonpara village under Kashipur Union in Barishal Sadar Upazila and son of Parimal Chandra Das, was identified by his family after police recovered the mutilated remains.

According to local reports, three men were seen entering the brick kiln area around 3:15 PM on a white Apache RTR motorcycle. Minutes later, two individuals were observed leaving in haste. Shortly afterward, a worker discovered Das’s headless body and alerted authorities. Police arrested one suspect, Mohammad Samrat, while the second accused, Mohammad Raju, was initially at large.

The killing was reported as part of a broader pattern of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, particularly following the 13th National Parliamentary Election in 2026 and other incidents in 2024-2025, which involved attacks on Hindu homes, temples, and community members.

Gopal Chandra Das is the sole confirmed victim in this case. The perpetrators are reported to be two Muslim men. Police have initiated an investigation, and one suspect has been taken into custody. The incident has heightened concern among local Hindu communities regarding safety and religiously motivated violence.

24. 12-Year-Old Dalit Hindu Girl Abducted, Forcibly Converted to Islam, and Married in Sindh, Pakistan

A 12-year-old Dalit Hindu girl, Lakshmi Kolhi, daughter of Ramesh Kolhi, was reportedly abducted on March 13, 2026, from Bukhari Farm near Kot Ghulam Muhammad tehsil in Mirpurkhas district, Sindh, Pakistan. She was taken to Samaro, where she was presented before Sufi cleric Pir Omar Jan Sirhindi, forcibly converted to Islam, and married to Parvez Marri. Following the conversion, she was given a new Islamic name, Shabana Sheikh.

Reports indicate that the girl’s age was falsified as 19 on official documents to bypass the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act, which prohibits marriage under 18 years. Human rights activists have highlighted this case as part of a broader pattern in Sindh where underage Hindu girls from economically disadvantaged communities are abducted, forcibly converted, and married to Muslim men, often with the complicity of local clerics.

The incident has drawn concern from minority rights groups, who note that such practices violate the victim’s religious identity, autonomy, and legal protections, and represent systematic targeting of Hindu minorities. The perpetrators are reported to include the abductor, Parvez Marri, and the cleric involved in the conversion ceremony. The current legal status of the case is unknown.

25. Christian Politician’s Remarks in Hyderabad Spark Outrage, Hindu Religious Sentiments Insulted

On March 13, 2026, during a Congress party event at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad, Telangana, Congress MLA Mandula Samuel, a Christian representative from Thungathurthy constituency, made derogatory remarks about Hindu dharma, deities, and Brahmin priests. He questioned the significance of blessings from priests and mocked Hindu rituals, claiming success comes from personal effort rather than religious observances.

The comments drew immediate criticism from political leaders and the public. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar condemned the remarks, urging police action against the MLA and calling for disciplinary measures, including potential expulsion from the party. Observers noted that several Congress leaders present at the event reportedly applauded the statements, intensifying controversy.

The incident has been classified as anti-Hindu hate speech under the category of “Attack on Hindu religious representations,” specifically “Anti-Hindu slurs, mocking faith.” The remarks are considered offensive to Hindu religious traditions and deities, undermining centuries-old spiritual practices and disrespecting the community’s beliefs. The case status is currently unknown, with the MLA identified as the sole perpetrator.

26. Hindu Woman and Minor Child Pressured to Convert to Islam, Abandoned in Kerala

In Kozhikode, Kerala, a 21-year-old Hindu woman and her minor child were reportedly pressured to convert to Islam by a Muslim man, Shahul Hameed (27), after their marriage. The woman, originally from Thrissur, had married Hameed at Guruvayoor Temple. Following the wedding and birth of their child, Hameed and his family allegedly insisted that both mother and child convert to Islam to be accepted within the family.

When the woman and her child refused, Hameed abandoned them. Reports indicate that he had also attempted to lure another woman from a different religious community. Acting on the complaint, Tiruvambadi Police in Kozhikode arrested Hameed, and investigations are ongoing.

The case has been documented under two primary categories: “Crimes against women in relationships and other sexual crimes” for forced conversion after marriage, and “Predatory Proselytisation” for harassment, coercion, and conversion of a minor. The incident reflects the use of manipulation and coercion targeting the victim’s Hindu faith, making it a religiously motivated hate crime.

27. Hindu Woman Assaulted, Pressured to Convert to Islam After Nikah in Lucknow

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, 13 March 2026: A 23-year-old Hindu woman from Gopalganj, Bihar, was subjected to sustained abuse, coercion for religious conversion, and severe physical violence after being deceived into a nikah (Islamic marriage) ceremony by her Muslim husband, Farheen Khan.

The victim, who had been living with her mother in Ashok Vihar, Lucknow, reportedly met Khan in the Kashmiri Bagh Pakka Pul area. Their friendship developed into a relationship, culminating in marriage at an Islamic ceremony on 20 October 2024. Khan assured the woman that Hindu marriage rites would also be observed, but after the nikah, he isolated her in rented accommodation and began pressuring her to adopt Islamic practices and recite the Kalma.

When she resisted, the abuse escalated to physical assaults. During her third month of pregnancy, Khan assaulted the woman, kicking her in the abdomen, which tragically resulted in the loss of her unborn child. Khan also threatened her with death and warned she could be sold if she reported the abuse.

In addition to coercing the woman, Khan attempted to force the minor child into conversion. Upon refusal to comply, he abandoned both the woman and her child, indicating that acceptance in the relationship was conditional upon abandoning her Hindu faith. Reports also suggest Khan attempted similar coercion in other cases, pointing to a pattern of predatory behavior.

The woman filed a formal complaint at Talakatora Police Station in Lucknow, and authorities have registered a case against Farheen Khan. The investigation is ongoing.

28. Hindu Residents in Roorkee Receive Murder and Beheading Threats on Social Media

In Roorkee city, Haridwar district, Uttarakhand, Hindu residents faced murder and beheading threats from Farman Miya, a Muslim man and resident of Mehwad Kala village under Piran Kaliyar police station.

The incident occurred on 14 March 2026, when Farman posted a social media video that went viral. In the video, he threatened to enter Hindu homes and slit their throats if they continued speaking against “Miya brothers” (Muslims). The video also included derogatory remarks against Hindus, with Farman referring to himself as a “lion.”

Police acted swiftly before tensions escalated in the area. Station House Officer Ravindra Kumar led the arrest of Farman. Following his arrest, Farman appeared in another video apologising to Hindus.

Rural Superintendent of Police Shekhar Chandra Suyal stated that some individuals are creating an atmosphere of terror on social media. A case was filed against Farman, and legal action was taken.

29. Muslim Advocate in Raipur Denigrates Hindus as ‘Kafirs’ and Abuses Deities

In the Rajatalab area of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Hindu religious sentiments were hurt when Anjum Khan, a Muslim advocate, posted derogatory remarks about Hinduism, Hindu deities, and Hindu modes of worship on social media while sharing Ramadan greetings.

Anjum Khan mocked Hindu prayer methods, stating Hindus “did not know anything about prayer,” labelled them as “kafirs,” and made abusive comments against Hindu deities.

The post spread rapidly on social media, provoking anger among local residents and Hindu organisations. On 14 March 2026, Hindu activist Tulesh Yadav objected and mobilised members of his organisation. The next day, activists gathered outside Civil Lines police station, raising slogans demanding strict action against Anjum Khan for insulting Hindu deities and religious sentiments, claiming the remarks aimed to provoke communal discord.

Police registered an FIR against Anjum Khan under charges of inciting religious sentiments and disturbing communal harmony. Security was strengthened in Civil Lines and Rajatalab areas, with additional patrols deployed to prevent escalation. Efforts to locate the accused were intensified after the FIR.

30. Hindu Students Forced to Remove Sacred Symbols During Varanasi Exam

In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Hindu students faced forcible removal of sacred religious symbols like kalavas, rudrakshas, and neck threads by police during the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Examination on 14 March 2026.

The exams, held at 46 centres across the state including Varanasi on 14 and 15 March, saw Uttar Pradesh police remove these items from candidates under security pretexts. Male candidates had kalavas and watches taken off their hands, rudrakshas and neck threads removed, and belts confiscated. Female candidates lost kalavas, friendship bands, neck chains, anklets, ear studs, and hair clips before biometric and iris checks allowed hall entry.

Deputy Inspector General Shivhari Meena inspected security at exam centres during this period. Intelligence agencies and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force were deployed to prevent cheating.

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board later stated on its official X handle that such actions violated guidelines. It clarified that religious and cultural symbols like sacred threads and mangalsutras should not be removed, with instructions given in every briefing, calling the incidents unfortunate and promising disciplinary action against guilty personnel.

31. California: MAGA Activist Targets Hindu Tech Professionals with Defamatory Caste Allegations

On March 15, 2026, Natasha Chart, an author and supporter of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, published statements on social media aimed at stigmatizing the Indian Hindu community by invoking a controversial and legally withdrawn “caste discrimination” case. Chart claimed that a Dalit engineer at Cisco Systems Inc. had been denied promotions and pushed out due to caste bias, asserting that internal hiring managers favored individuals from their own backgrounds. These remarks were circulated alongside discussions portraying Indian professionals as dominating American tech companies, effectively amplifying narratives that characterize the community as inherently discriminatory.

The primary victims of this narrative are Sundar Iyer and Ramana Kompella, two engineers who were original subjects of a June 2020 lawsuit filed by the California Civil Rights Department (CRD). While the suit alleged discrimination against a “self-identifying Dalit” named Chetan Narsude, the CRD voluntarily dismissed Narsude from the case in April 2023, and the suit was withdrawn after the agency failed to locate evidence of harassment. Records show that Iyer had actually offered the individual a multi-million dollar stock package and had employed other self-identifying Dalits in leadership roles. The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) noted that the agency had disregarded Iyer’s 20-year status as an agnostic and wrongly labeled him as “Hindu” to fit the lawsuit’s narrative.

The perpetrator, Natasha Chart, who identifies as a “Western civilisation appreciator” and author, is accused of using her public platform to spread misinformation and reinforce negative stereotypes. By presenting a debunked and withdrawn legal case as fact, her statements generalised the entire Hindu community in the U.S. tech sector as systemic discriminators. Critics and advocacy groups like the HAF argue that such actions constitute hate speech, as they weaponise caste to vilify the Hindu faith and delegitimise the professional success of Indian Americans through religious profiling and reputational harm.

32. Elderly Hindu Woman Brutally Murdered in Khulna Amid Post-Poll Violence

On March 15, 2026, an elderly Hindu woman was found brutally murdered in the Paikgacha Upazila of Khulna district, Bangladesh. The victim, identified as Bharati Mondal, was the mother of Sub-Inspector Chinmoy Mondal of the Sharankhola Police Station. Neighbors discovered her body inside a fish pond near her residence early Sunday morning after noticing her unusual absence from her home. Preliminary police findings indicate that unidentified assailants attacked Mondal during the night, slitting her throat before dumping her body in the enclosure to conceal the crime.

Local authorities recovered the remains and sent them for an autopsy as part of an ongoing investigation into the motive behind the killing. While no arrests have been reported, the incident has triggered widespread fear and anxiety among the local Hindu minority. The murder occurred against a backdrop of escalating anti-Hindu hostility following the 13th National Parliamentary Election in 2026, a period marked by coordinated attacks, arson, and looting targeting Hindu families and religious institutions across various districts, including Noakhali and Rangpur.

The victim, a woman belonging to the SC/ST category, is one of many targeted in a recurring pattern of violence that has persisted since the political unrest of August 2024. Reports from the region indicate that Hindu communities have faced retaliatory violence and systemic intimidation, including the use of genocidal rhetoric in public spaces. Law enforcement officials have stated that they are examining all possible angles of the crime, including the potential for faith-targeted hostility, which has seen a documented rise in the immediate aftermath of recent electoral and political shifts in Bangladesh.

33. Forced Conversion Attempt Targets Hindus in Janjgir-Champa Under Guise of Prayer Meeting

On March 15, 2026, an illegal religious gathering aimed at the forced conversion of Hindus was intercepted by local residents and police in the Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred in the Tiwaripara area of Kharoud, under the Shivrinarayan police station limits, at the residence of an individual identified as Ramashankar Sahu. According to police reports, Sahu had organised a prayer meeting without legal permission, gathering local Hindus under the pretext of worship. However, the session was allegedly used as a front for predatory proselytisation, where participants were manipulated and incited to abandon their Hindu faith in favour of Christianity.

The confrontation began when local Hindu residents, alerted to the nature of the meeting, arrived at the premises to protest the unauthorised activity. Members of various local organisations joined the protest, leading to a heated argument and a public disturbance involving the Christian men and women present at the site. Upon receiving reports of the ruckus, a police team from the Shivrinarayan station arrived to restore order. Officials stated that the organisers misbehaved with the police and engaged in aggressive behaviour, leading to the confiscation of several items from the scene and the eventual detention of the key organisers.

Law enforcement authorities have arrested six individuals in connection with the incident, including Yenivesh Sahu, Kishan Yadav, Ramashankar Sahu, and Motilal Ratre, along with two women. The accused have been charged under Sections 170, 126, and 135(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for organising an unauthorised gathering and disturbing public peace. This case follows a recorded pattern of similar incidents in Chhattisgarh, where vulnerable groups, including minors and the ailing, have been targeted for conversion through emotional manipulation and the exploitation of fiduciary trust.

34. Tribal Hindu Family Targeted for Conversion via Coercion and Deception in Raipur

On March 15, 2026, a Christian man was arrested in the Kharora police station area of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, for attempting to forcibly convert a tribal Hindu family. The accused, identified as Anup Shende, allegedly entered the residence of Rohit Uike in Kathia No. 1 village to conduct a prayer meeting and pressure the family to abandon their faith. According to the police complaint, Shende used abusive language against Hindu deities and lured the family with false promises of “curing diseases” through Christian prayers. The victim reported that these predatory tactics had previously led to the conversion of his aunt, Sukhwantin Bai Uike, who had subsequently removed all Hindu religious symbols from her home under similar pressure.

The victims in this case are members of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community who claim they were subjected to a systematic pattern of grooming and brainwashing. Rohit Uike’s testimony indicates that the perpetrator targeted not only his household but several other villagers by exploiting their health vulnerabilities and economic circumstances. The use of denigratory speech against Hindu traditions was reportedly a central tactic used to break down the victims’ spiritual anchors and assert religious supremacy. Following the formal complaint by the head of the family, Raipur police initiated a swift operation to take the accused into custody.

The perpetrator, Anup Shende, is currently facing legal action for his role in organising these unauthorised conversion efforts. Authorities have noted that the incident involved multiple layers of predatory proselytisation, including inducement, harassment, and the strategic denigration of the victims’ professed religion. This case has been documented as a religiously motivated hate crime, reflecting a broader pattern of targeting vulnerable Hindu communities in the region through coercive and deceptive means.

35. Hindu Community and Religious Leaders Targeted by Hate Speech in Lakhimpur Kheri

On March 15, 2026, a Muslim man was arrested in the Barawar town of Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, for posting derogatory and inflammatory remarks against the Hindu community and its leaders on social media. The accused, identified as Surfan, a resident of Mohalla Prem Nagar, allegedly published a Facebook post containing abusive language directed at the Hindu community, as well as specific religious and political figures, including Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and religious head of the Gorakhnath Math, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The post triggered widespread outrage among local Hindu organisations, leading Bajrang Dal activists to submit a formal petition to the Barawar police demanding criminal action.

Following the complaint, the Barawar police administration, led by outpost in-charge Narendra Kumar Singh, conducted a raid and took Surfan into custody. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the accused has been sent to jail in judicial custody. Authorities have emphasised that the nature of the speech was not merely a personal or political critique but involved collective vilification and the use of anti-Hindu slurs, which posed a significant threat to communal harmony and public order in the district.

The incident is documented as a religiously motivated hate crime due to the targeting of religious leadership and the broader Hindu faith identity. By abusing Yogi Adityanath in his capacity as a saffron-clad monk and head of a Shaiva Hindu monastery, the perpetrator is accused of deliberately mocking Hindu religious sentiments and symbols. Law enforcement officials have issued an appeal to the general public to refrain from sharing inflammatory content on social media platforms to prevent further escalation of interfaith tensions and maintain the law and order of the region.

36. Hindu Couple Targeted with Financial Inducements for Religious Conversion in Raisen

On March 15, 2026, a Hindu couple was allegedly pressured to undergo religious conversion through financial inducements in the Bamulia area of Mandideep, Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh. The victim, Yogendra Sarathe, reported that while visiting a residential property functioning as an informal church, he and his wife were approached by two individuals identified as Virij Kumar and Beaula Nirala. The accused reportedly offered Sarathe Rs 1 lakh to convert to Christianity, promising an immediate first instalment of Rs 25,000 upon acceptance. During the encounter, Sarathe was allegedly pressured to read the Bible and participate in Christian prayers, leading him to leave the premises and alert local residents.

The incident sparked significant outrage in the locality, drawing the intervention of Hindu activist groups, including the Bajrang Dal. Members of the organisation reached the site and objected to the presence of religious literature and conversion activities within the residential building. A formal complaint was subsequently lodged at the Mandideep police station, where the victim detailed how both he and his wife were targeted. Following the report, the police registered a case under the Madhya Pradesh Religious Freedom Act, which specifically prohibits conversions achieved through allurement, coercion, or fraudulent means.

The two accused, Virij Kumar and Beaula Nirala, have been produced before a court as part of the ongoing legal proceedings. Station in-charge Ranjit Sarathe confirmed that the investigation is continuing, with authorities examining the nature of the activities conducted at the residence-turned-church. This case is documented as an instance of predatory proselytisation, characterised by the exploitation of economic vulnerabilities and the use of organised indoctrination tactics to target the Hindu community.

The incidents from March 9 to March 15, 2026, reveal a concerning escalation of threats, coercion, and violence targeting Hindu communities across multiple regions. From abductions and forced conversions to desecration of temples, attacks on religious practices, and online intimidation, the pattern reflects an environment where religious identity and cultural expression are being systematically undermined.

In both urban and rural settings, perpetrators exploited social, religious, and economic vulnerabilities, often misrepresenting their identities or using institutional loopholes to coerce, intimidate, or defame individuals. Minors, women, families, and religious leaders were among the primary victims, highlighting the multifaceted nature of these assaults on communal and personal security.

The international dimension of these events, from diaspora communities in London and California to incidents in Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Pakistan, underscores the transnational vulnerabilities faced by Hindus, particularly in situations involving forced conversions, abductions, and hate speech. These events also illustrate the power of social media to amplify threats, incite fear, and mobilise both perpetrators and concerned communities.

Bottom line, these incidents demand urgent legal, administrative, and social responses to safeguard religious freedoms, protect vulnerable individuals, and restore communal harmony. They also underline the need for sustained vigilance, awareness, and accountability to prevent the targeting of communities based on faith, caste, or ethnicity. The week’s events are a stark reminder of the continuing challenges to maintaining safety, religious liberty, and social cohesion in India and abroad.
