Tamil Nadu: Hindu Munnani accuses DMK government over its failure to protect temples

The Hindu Munnani has urged the Tamil Nadu government to take strong measures to prevent the alleged alienation and encroachment of Hindu temple properties, particularly lands administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (HR&CE). At its state executive council meeting held in Mettupalayam near Coimbatore on March 7 and 8, the organisation expressed concern over what it described as increasing encroachments on temple lands and called for immediate action to safeguard these properties

CHENNAI: Hindu Munnani has underscored the need for appropriate measures to end the alienation of temple properties by the HR and CE and the government at the helm. More particularly, Hindu temple lands should be stopped from being illegally occupied by other religions and claiming rights over them later.

The state executive council of the Hindu Munnani was held in Mettupalayam near Coimbatore on March 7 and 8, in which MoS L Murugan participated as a special guest. The event saw the attendance of functionaries of Hindu Munnani from all over the state. Notable among them were Dakshin Bharat convener K Bakthan, state organiser S Rajesh, state secretaries N Muruganandam, JS Kishore Kumar, T Manoharm, VS Senthilkunmar, Vice president VP Jayakumar and others.

During the meeting, 11 resolutions were adopted unanimously.  One resolution said,” DMK has been continuously making comments on Hindus, temples and their traditions. Such things are in vogue whenever the DMK comes to power. In its current term is no exception to that rule. During its 5 years rule, over 250 temples have been razed to the ground. Its ministers Ponmudi, MP TR Baalu , TM Selvaganapathy and others ridiculed Hindu culture, spiritual customs in a poor manner. The dmk government did not respect the HC orders in Karthigai deepam issue. In Tenkasi, savites who sung Thevaram, Thiruvasagam were moved out and denied permission inside temple premsies. .. we need to form a strong Hindu vote to defeat the hindu phobic DMK from power”.

Another resolution raised serious concern over giving away temple lands to Minority communities for burial ground and cemetery purposes. There have been incidents of their encroachment on Hindu temple lands in many parts of the state. The government justifies saying there is a paucity of space for them. In Moolakothalam, a massive burial ground has been converted into a government housing board quarters for the underprivileged, while the government. lands being encroached by DMK cadres and to house DMK party offices.

One resolution condemned the Congress for its continued efforts to cause disrespect to Bharat. It listed Rahul Gandhi’s and other leaders’ comments and activities in public, inside Parliament, and abroad.

It said Tamil Nadu has become a heaven for terror modules under the DMK regime. Delhi police arrested people linked to a terror group from Tirupur, whereas our Tamil Nadu police did not act to detain them. The police are keen on arresting critics on social media, in print, and in public forums, keeping a blind eye to terrorists. It never arrests leaders who criticise Hindus, their traditions, the PM, the Home Minister, the President, and the Government for their hate and threatening speeches. They become ‘stooges of DMK government’.   We have to ask whether there is any police machinery in Tamil Nadu?  Why politics in the safety and security of the state?”

The Hindu Munnani appreciated the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his efforts to eliminate the Naxal menace from the Bharat soil.

A resolution condemned the DMK government for using temple funds against the temple’s interests. This was seen during the Thiruparankundram Deepam issue. Instead of lighting the deepam as directed by the high court, the DMK government and HR and CE engaged top-paid lawyers to represent them in their appeals in HCs and SC.  It also came down heavily on the DMK government for the NoC to build churches and mosques in TN.  Thoothukudi DMK MP Kanimozhi did not do anything to improve the infrastructure at Thiruchendur Railway station, where a large number of devotees come to worship the Bhagwan Murugan.

Hindu Munnani has appealed to the Government to detain infiltrators in special camps. In Tamil Nadu, people from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan came to work and for espionage activities. Their presence would endanger the country’s security.  Another resolution made a scathing attack on DMK and its allies for their minority appeasement and for their anti-Hindu stand. Their partial approach is highly condemnable.  Tamil Nadu voters should understand that the DMK government is anti-Hindu in its DNA, and it should be given a befitting lesson during the coming state assembly elections by defeating the alliance headed by it.

The Executive Council has condoled the deaths of Poornachandran, who sacrificed his life for the Thiruparankunram temple lighting cause; Tirupur West district secretary Loganathan; Nellai Murugan; Puducherry Sanjai; Karaikkal Rajendran; Nanuguneri Manivel; Villupuram S Dharanidharan; Alwarthirunagari Murugesan; Kulithalai advocate Thiayagarajan; and Thiruneermalai Neelamegam.
