Jalalpur: On March 3, police in Jalalpur arrested a man identified as Ashfaq after a 22-year-old woman filed a serious complaint alleging that she had been kidnapped, sexually exploited, and pressured to convert her religion. The arrest was carried out after police received specific information regarding the accused’s whereabouts.

According to police officials, Ashfaq was apprehended near the Hauz Toll Plaza following a tip-off from an informant. Acting on the information, a police team quickly moved to the location and successfully detained the accused. He was then taken to the police station for questioning.

Woman alleges ordeal began when she was a minor

Gajanand Choubey, the station in charge of the Jalalpur police station, provided details about the case. He said that the complainant, a 22-year-old woman who lives in a village within the police station’s jurisdiction, approached the authorities and narrated a disturbing account of events that allegedly began many years ago. According to her statement, the incident dates back nearly 12 years, when she was just 10 years old.

The woman told police that Ashfaq allegedly trapped her at that time and gradually begun to threaten and blackmail her. She claimed that the accused used these threats to control and manipulate her for several years. According to the complaint, the victim was subjected to repeated sexual exploitation during this period.

The woman further alleged that the accused also attempted to pressure her into converting to Islam. She told investigators that Ashfaq repeatedly insisted that she change her religion and allegedly used threats and intimidation to force her into compliance. The complainant said that the prolonged harassment and fear prevented her from coming forward earlier.

Police arrest accused near Hauz Toll Plaza

After listening to her account, the police registered a formal case against the accused. The charges include sections related to kidnapping, rape, and incitement to religious conversion. Officials said that the seriousness of the allegations prompted immediate action from the police department.

Based on the complaint and initial investigation, police teams began searching for the accused. With the help of information provided by an informant, officers were able to locate Ashfaq near the Hauz Toll Plaza. He was subsequently arrested and brought to the Jalalpur police station for interrogation.

Following questioning, the accused was presented before a court as part of the legal procedure. The court then ordered that he be sent to judicial custody, after which he was lodged in jail.

Police officials stated that the investigation into the case is still ongoing. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence, record statements, and verify details related to the allegations made by the complainant. They also indicated that further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
