As the Pakistan threat tends to continuously persist across the security atmosphere of India despite deep security vigilance ascertained by the Indian authorities, in yet another alarm, a large balloon depicting its origin from Pakistan has been suddenly found at the Indian Airforce Station, Agra. The balloon also has been inscribed with certain texts written in Urdu. “Pakistan International Airlines” is also written on the balloon, which was found at the high-security fortified Agra Airforce Station on February 12. The aeroplane shaped balloon was discovered at the technical airbase around 9AM on February 12.
The balloon was in green and white colour, thus having resemblance to the Pakistan flag. The security officials soon recovered the Pakistan-origin balloon and swift investigations have been launched by multiple probe agencies. Preliminary investigations have revealed that there were no explosives or other harmful devices found in the balloon. There was neither any surveillance equipment. After the preliminary investigations, the recovered balloon was handed-over to Shahganj Police Station and an FIR has been registered as per the details given by the Indian Airforce, to conduct further probe.
Local police authorities, intelligence officials and the IAF personnel are investigating the matter from all angles to decipher all the possibilities. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being analysed to understand any suspective movements. How the balloon entered a high-security airforce zone, is a major question that is currently under inspection. The aeroplane shaped balloon of a large size is said to have been attached to a thread of around 10 metres, as per the sources. The name and logo of the Pakistani International Airlines being inscribed on the balloon have raised serious security questions given the heightened security concerns prevailing at the border, in the backdrop of relentlessly going counter-terrorism operations by the Armed Forces.
“In the preliminary investigation, no technical device or toxic gas was found inside the balloon. The investigation is ongoing”, said Senior Police Officer Gaurav Singh. However, this is not the maiden time that the Pakistan-origin materials or devices have been intruded into India. Such scenarios keep erupting especially in the border areas. For example, just three days ago, a similar Pakistan-origin balloon was found in the border district of Bikaner in Rajasthan. The line “Pakistan International Airlines” was written even on that balloon. In June 2025, another balloon carrying the name and logo of Pakistan International Airlines was recovered at Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. A similar recovery was done at the Nia Basti locality of Jammu in August, 2025.
The Airforce hasn’t yet released any official statements, however, as per the sources the balloon intrusion into the airforce base in Agra is being investigated with utmost concern as it pertains to national security. Authorities are investigating and analysing the cause and motive behind such repeated intrusion of Pakistani-origin materials into the Indian territory. How the object was able to enter such a highly restricted and secured zone of the Airforce is being studied, the sources added.
