These incidents have surfaced in varied settings such as wedding ceremonies, religious festivals, restaurants, roadside dhabas, juice shops, and salons, and have involved the alleged contamination of rotis, naan, milk, fruits, and juices, as well as acts targeting religious practices, including spitting on Kanwariyas during pilgrimages and on devotees’ belongings.
In many cases, videos circulated online acted as the primary trigger for public protests and swift police intervention, leading to FIRs, arrests, and prosecutions under provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Food Safety laws, and public health regulations. The repeated nature of these incidents has prompted sustained demands from citizens, local Hindu organisations, and political representatives for stricter enforcement and deterrent action, while also raising serious concerns about food safety, public health, and the impact of such acts on communal harmony.

1. Worker Caught Spitting on Roti at Ghaziabad Restaurant, Video Goes Viral; Police Arrest Employee
Ghaziabad, January 08, 2026: An incident of a restaurant worker allegedly spitting on rotis while preparing food has come to light in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, after a video of the act went viral on social media. The incident occurred at a restaurant named “Chicken Point,” where the prepared rotis were reportedly being served to customers.
According to the information available, the restaurant employs eight workers and serves food to approximately 500 people daily. The video shows a worker spitting on rotis before placing them inside a tandoor oven for baking. The incident came to public attention when Harsh Chaudhary visited the restaurant with his friends. He reportedly noticed the worker spitting on the roti during preparation and recorded a video. After the video began circulating, customers at the restaurant created a ruckus and refused to eat the food. Police from the Madhuban Bapudham police station arrived at the restaurant, located in the Duhai area near Rapid Rail Pillar No. 750, after receiving information about the incident. After reviewing the video footage, the police took the worker into custody. The accused has been identified as Javed, son of Chand Mohammad, a resident of Muradnagar. He had been working at the restaurant for approximately five years.
The viral video, which is 1 minute and 21 seconds long, shows another employee standing near Javed and asking him to prepare rotis for customers before leaving the area. The footage then shows Javed rolling the roti, spitting on it, and placing it inside the tandoor oven. During the video, voices of people seated inside the restaurant can be heard saying, “Look, he is spitting on the roti, make a video.” Confirming the action taken, ACP Kavinagar Suryabali Maurya stated that information was received regarding rotis being prepared by spitting at the “Chicken Point” restaurant. Following this, Madhuban Bapudham police station in-charge Akhilesh Singh reached the spot, inspected the scene, and collected details. The accused, identified as Javed Ansari, was arrested, and a case has been registered. Further legal action is currently underway.
2. Video of Worker Spitting on Rotis at Aligarh Dhaba Goes Viral, Accused Arrested

During the ceremony, a Muslim youth identified as Tosib was engaged in preparing tandoori rotis at the venue. It is alleged that Tosib was spitting on the rotis while making them. A relative present at the ceremony noticed the act and recorded a video on a mobile phone. The video was later shared on social media, where it circulated widely.
Confirming the action, Station House Officer Satyendra Singh Sidhu stated that a case was registered in the matter and the accused, Tosib, was arrested.
4. Man Arrested for Allegedly Spitting on Tandoori Rotis During Wedding Ceremony in Bulandshahr

6. Two Detained in Ghaziabad Juice Shop Spit Mixing Case; MLA Nandkishor Gurjar Demands Action
Ghaziabad, July 13, 2025: A case involving allegations of spitting into juice at a shop in Ghaziabad has come to light, leading to the detention of two individuals and triggering protests by local MLA Nandkishor Gurjar. He further alleged that the two individuals initially identified themselves as Aman and Sunil, but were allegedly providing false identities. Gurjar also claimed that the kalava worn on their wrists raised suspicion and alleged that they were attempting to hide their identity.
Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on the findings.
7. Kanwar Route Unrest in Muzaffarnagar After Youth Allegedly Spits on Kanwar, Accused Arrested
Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, July 7, 2025: An incident of alleged spitting on a kanwar led to unrest in Purkaji town of Muzaffarnagar district after a youth from the Muslim community was accused of spitting on a kanwar while devotees were resting on the kanwar route.
According to the information available, the incident triggered strong reactions from kanwariyas, who gathered at the spot and created a ruckus. Angry Shiv devotees blocked one side of the road and also attempted to forcibly enter a nearby house. After receiving information, police reached the scene and, following several hours of effort, managed to bring the situation under control.
Police arranged for fresh Gangajal to be brought again from Haridwar, after which the kanwar was sent forward to continue the journey.
Following the incident, police registered a case under serious sections against the accused youth, identified as Usman, and arrested him. Police officials stated that the accused is reportedly mute and deaf, and interrogation is being conducted with the help of silent language interpreters.
Police confirmed that a case has been registered at Purkaji police station and the accused, identified as Usman, son of Ghaseeta and a resident of Purkaji, has been arrested. The accused will be produced before the court, and further legal action is underway.
8. Milkman Caught Spitting Into Milk in Lucknow, CCTV Footage Triggers Outrage

After the incident became known, members of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha gathered at the Gomti Nagar police station and demanded strict action against the accused.
