In a recent incident, a Muslim teacher at a government school in Mathura has been suspended for allegedly forcing children to recite namaz and promoting conversion. Jan Mohammad, the headmaster of Nauhjheel Primary School in Mathura, was accused of making students recite namaz, preventing the singing of the national anthem, and inciting conversion. It is alleged that in the Nauhjheel area of Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district, he made children recite namaz instead of the national anthem. Following the allegations, Jan Mohammad was suspended, and the Basic Education Officer has assigned the investigation to the Block Education Officer.

How Islamist teacher Jan Mohammad targeted students and parents?

Islamist teacher Jan Mohammad allegedly told children to go home and ask their parents to convert to Islam. He reportedly did not conduct morning prayers to prevent students from singing the national anthem and often scolded those who did so. There are also reports that some maulanas visited Jan Mohammad and encouraged children to convert. These maulanas, along with Jan Mohammad brainwashed the students. Even Tablighi Jamat members also often visited the school for conversion.  The Islam was proclaimed as the best religion in the world before the school students.

Within 24 hours, Headmaster Jan Mohammad was suspended by the Basic Education Officer (BSA). After this, Jan Mohammad’s health deteriorated. He took leave and went to his home in Agra.

Around 235 children are studying there. Of these, 89 are Muslim, and the rest are Hindu children. Among 8 staffs including the headmaster Jan Mohammad, 7 are Hindus. He was the only Muslim present in the school.

Islamist teacher Jan Mohammad suspended

BJP leader Durgesh Pradhan met the Basic Education Officer and submitted a written complaint against headmaster Jan Mohammad. In his complaint, Pradhan alleged that Jan Mohammad, headmaster of Nauhjheel First School, was inciting children to convert, brainwashing them, forcing them to offer prayers, and insulting Hindu deities. He also alleged that Jan Mohammad described Hinduism as a religion of ignorant people and was carrying out conversion-related activities within the school.

Following the complaint, the Basic Education Officer of Mathura district handed over the investigation to the Block Education Officer. Basic Education Officer Ratan Kirti said that Jan Mohammad was found prima facie guilty during the inquiry and was suspended. He was subsequently transferred to Nagla Himayun Primary School in Mant.
