New Delhi: Three people were killed in an explosion that rocked the Khirgaon locality of Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district on Wednesday, January 14. The explosion occurred on Wednesday evening in Habibi Nagar under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station limits, sending shockwaves through the region.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Saddam, his wife Nanhi Parveen and another lady Rasheeda Parveen. Another individual has also sustained injuries in the blast.
The nature of the explosion, as per officials are yet to be ascertained.
The explosion took place in the evening when a few families in the locality were reportedly indulged in cleaning work. A police team immediately rushed to the spot after getting information about the blast, rescuing the injured individuals.
Two people were reportedly died on the spot following the explosion, while another individual who was rushed to the nearby health care centre, succumbs to her injuries.
A team from the state’s forensic department also visited the locality and collected samples from the site of the explosion. The exact circumstances leading to the explosion and the nature of the explosives that caused the blast are being investigated by the authorities.
The blast has alerted intel agencies and the police given the history of suspected activities in the region in recent years. Notably, a strong explosion in the same region in 2016 had resulted in death of 6 people who were reportedly involved in bomb making. The incident is being investigated further from all possible angles.
