Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday distributed appointment letters to 1,543 newly recruited candidates across 11 different state government departments during a grand Employment Fair held at the Railway Auditorium in Bhubaneswar. Addressing the newly appointed officers and employees, the Chief Minister urged them to remain committed to public service and play an active role in building a transparent and corruption-free administrative system.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Majhi reminded the new recruits that public service is a responsibility rooted in trust and accountability. He advised them never to forget their duties and obligations towards the common people and to uphold integrity in both personal conduct and official functioning. “You must remain personally free from corruption and ensure that the system you serve also remains free from corrupt practices,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of employment fairs, the Chief Minister said that such initiatives play a vital role in realising the vision of a developed nation and a developed state. He noted that the Odisha government has been consistently working to provide employment opportunities to the youth and to create avenues for sustainable livelihoods. “Connecting youth with employment is not only a means of economic empowerment but also brings fresh energy and momentum to governance,” he added.
Addressing the newly appointed candidates, Majhi said that reaching this milestone required perseverance, hard work, and the ability to overcome numerous challenges. “The appointment letters you receive today are a testament to your confidence, dedication, and success,” he said. Describing the occasion as a new beginning in their professional lives, the Chief Minister stressed that the journey ahead must be guided by service, sensitivity, and responsibility.
The Chief Minister informed that although the state government has been in office for only 18 months, it has already provided government employment to 39,459 youths during this short period. He said this achievement reflects the government’s employment-oriented policies and its strong commitment to the youth of Odisha.

Majhi further emphasised that taking governance to the grassroots level should be the fundamental objective of every newly appointed officer. He urged them to give utmost priority to transparency, accountability, and the speedy redressal of public grievances. He stated that effective and timely delivery of services is essential to strengthening public trust in the administration.
Appealing to the officers to uphold ethical values, the Chief Minister said that honesty, integrity, and empathy must guide their actions at all times. “Public approval is earned through sincere service, not merely through authority or designation,” he remarked, while calling upon them to serve the people with dedication and compassion.
During the programme, the Chief Minister personally handed over appointment letters to one newly selected candidate from each district of the state. He also felicitated National Award-winning teachers Basant Kumar Rana from Malkangiri district and Tarun Kumar Das from Koraput district
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo called upon newly appointed sports coaches to work with the goal of preparing at least 10 Olympic athletes from Odisha by 2036. He emphasised that coaches play a crucial role in shaping sporting talent and expressed confidence that their efforts would bring national and international recognition to the state.
Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Pravati Parida urged the newly recruited officers to think beyond their immediate goals and work with ambitious visions for 2036. She expressed hope that the new recruits would help deliver modern, efficient, and citizen-centric services to the people of Odisha.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said that the real test for newly appointed officers would begin from day one, as it is the general public who would assess their performance. He stressed that public acceptance and trust are far more valuable than any certificate or qualification. School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond advised the officers to discharge their duties with truthfulness, integrity, and unwavering commitment.
Among those appointed, the School and Mass Education Department accounted for 681 Physical Education Teachers and 74 Postgraduate Teachers. The Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department appointed 77 Assistant Soil Conservation Officers and 315 Soil Conservation Extension Workers.
In the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, 86 Odisha Revenue Service officers and 30 Odisha Administrative Service officers were appointed. The Finance Department recruited 65 Odisha Tax and Accounts Service officers and 56 Odisha Finance Service officers.
The Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Department appointed 105 Odisha Labour Service officers and one Statistical Assistant. The Cooperation Department recruited 12 Odisha Cooperative Service officers and three Odisha Cooperative Audit Service officers.
Additionally, 18 Odisha Tourism Service officers were appointed in the Tourism Department, six Odisha Police Service officers in the Home Department, five Market Intelligence Officers in the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, one Odisha Employment Service officer in the Skill Development and Technical Education Department, and eight Assistant Directors in the Planning and Convergence Department.
Congratulating all newly appointed officers and employees, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that they would contribute to the overall development of Odisha with sincerity, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public service.
