Dhaka: In Bhaluka Upazila of Mymensingh, Bangladesh, a Hindu man, Bajendra Biswas (40), was killed by Noman Mia (22). Both men were members of the Bangladesh Ansar, a local auxiliary security force, and worked at Sultana Sweaters Limited garment factory.

According to police reports, the incident was caused by an “accidental discharge” of a firearm that Noman Mia was holding. The bullet struck Bajendra in the thigh, causing severe bleeding. He was rushed to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex but died due to blood loss.

Noman Mia was arrested, and Bajendra’s body was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Bajendra Biswas, the son of Pobitro Biswas from Khadirpur village in Sylhet Sadar, was responsible for security at the garment factory. Noman Mia is the son of Lutfur Rahman and comes from Baluturi Bazar in the Taherpur area of Sunamganj. Around 20 Ansar members are deployed at Sultana Sweaters Limited for security.

The killing of Bajendra Biswas comes shortly after the tragic death of Dipu Das on December 18. Dipu, another Hindu worker in a Bhaluka garment factory, was brutally lynched by a mob over false allegations of blasphemy. His death had already shaken the local Hindu community, and now, with Bajendra’s killing, fears of rising communal tensions in the area have intensified, highlighting the urgent need for security and protection for vulnerable workers.
