Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya (ReP) the national digital library initiative of the Ministry of Education has crossed a major milestone of over 6,000 free eBooks, reaffirming the Government of India’s commitment to inclusive, joyful, and future-ready education.

Launched by the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya has been developed under the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, with a clear focus on children and youth across the country. More than just a digital repository, ReP positions itself as a national movement to rekindle the joy of reading, foster curiosity, and instill pride in India’s rich cultural and literary heritage.

As the platform prepares to showcase its expanding universe of books at the New Delhi World Book Fair 2026, ReP is already transforming screens into gateways of imagination, discovery, and learning. With a simple app download, users are welcomed into a world where stories, knowledge, and creativity are available anytime, anywhere, and completely free of cost.

Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya stands as a comprehensive digital library, offering unlimited access to books across a wide spectrum of genres fiction, non-fiction, comics, rhymes, picture books, and thematic collections on Art and Culture, Travel and Exploration, and more. Carefully curated to appeal to diverse interests and reading levels, the platform ensures that learning is not confined to classrooms but extends into homes and hearts.

Aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the library is thoughtfully organised into four age-specific categories 3-8 years, 8-11 years, 11-14 years, and over 14 years ensuring age-appropriate content that supports cognitive, emotional, and creative growth.

One of ReP’s strongest pillars is accessibility. Available on Web, Android, and iOS platforms, the app hosts over 5,000 non-academic titles from more than 200 reputed publishers, spanning 22 Indian languages and English. By transcending linguistic and geographical boundaries, Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya ensures that every child regardless of location or mother tongue can experience the joy of quality literature.

At its core, Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya is driven by a powerful purpose: to ignite a lifelong passion for reading. The initiative seeks not only to cultivate readers but also to empower young minds to think critically, dream freely, and grow meaningfully. By rooting content in India’s cultural diversity while opening windows to global ideas, ReP aims to build informed, confident, and imaginative future citizens.
