New Delhi: A joint team of Bihar police and Special Task Force (STF) arrested three drug suppliers from East Champaran district, police said on Wednesday, December 24. The said individuals were arrested after the police team launched a checking drive under the jurisdiction of Haraiya police station limits on late Tuesday night.
The action was taken after the police got a tip-off about the drug traffickers, leading to their arrest from Pantoka border. The team also recovered 7.5 kg of Charas from the possession of the accused. The arrested accused have been identified as Chand Miyan, a resident of Motihari, Riyaz Khan, a resident of West Champaran district and Ayush Das, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district.

Two of the arrested accused Chand Miyan and Ayush Das had also been booked under the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act previously, said police.
According to details, the accused were all part of an inter-state drug supply network spanning across multiple states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu Kashmir, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Gujrat.
The authorities have so far booked six individuals in connection with the case with three among them still at large. As per police, a Nepali citizen identified as Pradeep Tamang and Mehboob Miyan of Raxaul have long been involved in drug smuggling related work. The matter is being further investigated by the officials.
Police have intensified vigil along the Indo-Nepal borders which was often been used by drug traffickers or those involved in smuggling of counterfeit currency into Bhartiya territory.
