Bihar: Cabinet gives nod to creation of 3 additional departments to meet ‘1 crore jobs and employment’ target

A total of 19 proposals were accorded nod in the cabinet meet held in Patna on Tuesday which includes the creation of 3 additional departments as announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar

Patna: In a move aimed at meeting the poll time promise of providing around one crore jobs and employment opportunities to the youths of the state in the next five years, the state cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on December 9 accorded nod to creation of three additional departments in the state.

The proposal to create three additional department including the Youth Employment and Skill Development Department, the Higher Education Department and the Civil Aviation Department was given nod in the state cabinet meet held on Tuesday.

In all, a total of 19 proposals were approved by the state cabinet which also include a 8 per cent and 5 per cent hike in dearness allowance given to the state government employees and pension holders.

The cabinet also approved the signing of MOUs with National Stock Exchange India Limited for skill program of students and with National Investment and infrastructure Fund Limited for various projects.

Among the other key decisions made, the cabinet approved the creation of coppers fund with allocation of Rs 15 crore for Valmiki Vyaghra Aaraksh Foundation. It also declared Gaya Ji and Munger as Civil Defence Districts.

Earlier on December 5, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in a post on social media platform X had announced to create three new departments in the state.

“We have set a target to provide employment and jobs to 1 crore youth in the next five years (2025-30). For this it is essential that more and more youth in the state be trained for skill development and that higher quality and technical education be made available to the youth,” said the Chief Minister.

He noted that intensive monitoring should also be done for the achievement of the target. The Chief Minister added that creation of these departments will greatly help the youths in securing jobs and employment.

He further informed that constructions of many large and small new airports has been proposed in the state under the UDAN scheme with several new airports are already being constructed.

He added that the creation of Civil Aviation Department in the state will accelerate this process, strengthen industrial climate, create new employment opportunities and support the imports of products made in the state.

Speaking on Higher Education Department, the Chief Minister said that the objective behind the creation of the department in the state is to bring about qualitative improvement in higher education, promote research and innovation, develop technical and vocational education and making employment-oriented education accessible to youths from all sections of society.

The CM also informed about creating a separate Directorate of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and the Bihar Marketing Promotion Corporation while noting that this will help achieve the target of providing government jobs and employment to the youths in the state. He added that mega skill centres will be established in every district of the state for skill developments of the youth.

Meanwhile taking to X, state’s deputy CM and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary said that the decisions taken by the cabinet will prove to strengthen the state’s infrastructure, education, health, agriculture and public facilities.

“Bihar’s NDA government is committed to the comprehensive progress of the state and making a developed state,” he said.
