India’s Aviation Leap: New Safran Facility to Power USD 4 Billion MRO Market
India’s aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sector is set for major expansion, with its market projected to reach USD 4 billion by 2031, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said.
Speaking at the inauguration of French aerospace giant Safran’s new MRO facility in Hyderabad, the minister said the country is rapidly emerging as a preferred global destination for aircraft servicing.
The Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) centre, expected to be fully operational by 2026, will significantly boost India’s indigenous aviation capabilities. Naidu highlighted that domestic MRO operations could help save up to USD 15 billion in foreign exchange, benefitting airlines and eventually passengers through reduced operating costs.
