Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the ‘Samruddha Odisha 2036 Conclave’ on November 25, organised by the Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry Limited (UCCIL). He asserted that Odisha is on the verge of a true industrial revolution that will significantly alter the State’s direction and destiny in the years to come.
In his address, the Chief Minister presented a roadmap for a prosperous Odisha, stating that the State’s economy, currently valued at around USD 120 billion, has the potential to reach USD 500 billion by 2036. “To achieve this target, Odisha must register nearly five-fold growth within the next 10–11 years. We are therefore focusing strongly on infrastructure development, industrial expansion, and skill development,” he explained.
CM Majhi highlighted that over Rs 2 lakh crore worth of industrial investments have already been initiated, with 84 projects inaugurated. These initiatives are expected to generate more than 1.64 lakh employment opportunities across the State.
He noted that major industrial groups such as Vedanta, Adani, JSW, Indian Oil, and Zoho have large-scale investment proposals in the pipeline. Significant investment is also flowing into sectors like textiles and green energy. The Chief Minister added that both the Central and State governments, working as a “double engine,” are enhancing the infrastructure ecosystem across roads, railways, ports, and airports to ensure faster industrial growth.
Majhi acknowledged the proactive support of industry bodies like UCCIL in bolstering Odisha’s industrial landscape. “The combined efforts of the Government and the industry will pave the way for a truly prosperous Odisha,” he said.
The Chief Minister further stated that Bhubaneswar is being developed into a major technology hub. He informed attendees that new fintech and insurtech companies are establishing operations in the capital city, and two semiconductor units have already been set up. The Capital Region Ring Road project, he noted, will significantly enhance the Cuttack–Bhubaneswar twin-city corridor. “We are committed to transforming Bhubaneswar into a mega tech city of the Eastern region,” he added.
Speaking at the event, Industry and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain remarked that the State Government has emerged as a people-centric administration within one year, positioning Odisha as a land of immense opportunities. He credited the Chief Minister for initiating a new wave of industrial development in the State.
During the program, the Chief Minister unveiled UCCIL’s special publication ‘Samruddha Odisha 2036’.
