NEW DELHI: After the grand unveiling of the Rs 100 coin featuring Bharat Mata to celebrate 100 years of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the Modi government released yet another historic commemorative coin, this time to honour 150 years of Arya Samaj, one of India’s most influential reformist movements.

According to reports, this special Rs 150 coin carres the sacred Gayatri Mantra inscribed in Devanagari script, symbolising the timeless message of wisdom, light, and truth that the Arya Samaj has spread since its foundation by Swami Dayananda Saraswati in 1875.

The Arya Samaj, founded in 1875, has been a guiding light in India’s social and spiritual awakening. With its motto “Krinvanto Vishwam Aryam” (Make the world noble), it championed education, equality, women empowerment, and Vedic values. The upcoming coin with the Gayatri Mantra will represent India’s deep spiritual roots and reformist spirit. It will remind people of the Arya Samaj’s lasting impact, from promoting education to fighting social evils like caste discrimination and untouchability.

By honouring Arya Samaj’s 150th anniversary, Modi government is not only paying respect to a pioneering reform movement, but also reaffirming India’s commitment to its ancient values that continue to guide modern governance and nation-building.

Earlier in October 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Rs100 commemorative coin and postal stamp to mark the centenary of the RSS. The coin, featuring the image of Bharat Mata, made history as the first Indian currency to depict the nation’s motherly figure, a moment that deeply resonated with millions of citizens.

Now, the Arya Samaj coin continues that spirit, blending India’s cultural pride with national celebration. While the Bharat Mata coin celebrates the idea of a united and selfless India, the Gayatri Mantra coin celebrates the country’s spiritual strength and moral wisdom.

The Modi government’s initiative to commemorate such historic milestones shows the vision of “Sanskriti se Samriddhi” prosperity through Indian culture. Whether through coins, stamps, or public events, the government continues to highlight India’s spiritual and reformist legacy on the global stage.

Such a gesture strengthens the sense of national identity and pride among citizens and reminds that India’s greatness lies not just in its modern achievements but also in its timeless values and heritage.

With the Arya Samaj coin, the government is sending a powerful message, that reformers, saints, and thinkers in India deserve as much recognition as its political and military heroes.

What Makes This Coin Special?

The newly announced commemorative coin carries a denomination of Rs 150 and is crafted from a nickel-silver alloy, symbolizing both value and durability. On one side, it proudly features the emblem of the Arya Samaj, while the other side bears the sacred Gayatri Mantra inscribed in Devanagari script, a timeless invocation of divine wisdom and enlightenment. Issued to mark 150 years of the Arya Samaj (1875-2025), the coin beautifully reflects Swami Dayananda Saraswati’s vision.

From Bharat Mata to Gayatri Mantra

With this series of symbolic coins, the Modi government continues to strengthen the emotional and spiritual connection with the people of India. The earlier coin featuring Bharat Mata stirred feelings of devotion and patriotism, while the upcoming Gayatri Mantra coin embodies purity, wisdom, and enlightenment.

Together, these coins narrate the story of India’s cultural revival where ancient heritage meets modern identity. As the nation marks 150 years of Arya Samaj in 2025, this coin will serve as a shining tribute to India’s enduring spiritual light, one that continues to guide the world, just as envisioned by Swami Dayananda Saraswati more than a century ago.
