Dev Sanskriti University, Haridwar, organised a one-day National Conference on “Role of Media in Nation Building” on October 17. The conference was inaugurated by Dattatreya Hosabale, Sarkaryawah (General Secretary) of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), along with Vice-Chancellor Sharad Pardhi, Pro-Vice-Chancellor & Youth Icon Dr. Chinmay Pandya, and former MP Tarun Vijay, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

The day-long conference featured five sessions, during which speakers called upon the media to play an active role in shaping an ethically and morally strong India.

Delivering the keynote address, Dattatreya Hosabale emphasised that media should play a powerful and responsible role in nation building. He said that even during India’s freedom struggle, national leaders effectively used media as a tool for public awakening. Journalists today, he urged, must perform their duties with honesty and focus on issues such as social empowerment and women’s upliftment.

In his presidential address, Dr Chinmay Pandya said that journalists should be sensitive and constructive, focusing only on stories that contribute to the nation’s development. He added that the time has come to root out injustice, immorality, and corruption from society.

Other distinguished speakers included Praveen Chaturvedi (CEO, Prachyam Studios), Suresh Chavhanke (Chief Editor, Sudarshan Channel), former Information Commissioner Uday Mahurkar, and former MP Tarun Vijay, who shared their insights on the evolving role of media.

Delegates and media professionals from Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh participated in the five interactive sessions. Experts highlighted that modern media is not merely a source of information but a guiding force for national direction.

Hundreds of volunteers from the All World Gayatri Pariwar also attended, enriching the event with cultural and spiritual vibrancy. University scholars discussed the growing need for Spiritual Journalism in modern times.

During the inaugural session, Senior Journalists Anil Galgali (Mumbai) and Amit Narayan, along with many others from across India, were felicitated by Dr Chinmay Pandya and Dattatreya Hosabale for their outstanding contributions to journalism.

The event also featured the release of a documentary on the spiritual journey of Akhand Jyoti, along with new editions of ‘Sanskriti Sanchar’, ‘Rinasa’, and several new publications. University dignitaries presented the guests with the D S V V emblem, Ganga Jal, and Rudraksha mala as tokens of respect.
