The brutal and sensational murder in Tezpur in broad daylight shocked the people of the state. The incident took place in Tezpur town in North Assam. The murderer, Abed Ali, was captured by the public and later arrested by the Tezpur police.

As per the report, the heinous crime took place in Poruwa Chariali in Tezpur town on October 15. At around 8.30 am, the accused murderer came and had tea in a roadside hotel. The hotel is owned by Biren Das. The victim, a specially abled girl, was cleaning dishes behind the hotel at that time. After having tea, the accused Abed Ali went behind the hotel where the victim was present. Eyewitnesses said that Abed Ali dragged the victim a few meters away from the place where she was cleaning dishes used in the hotel. The victim tried to escape and reached near a temple alongside the PWD road. Accused Abed Ali attacked the victim near the temple with a sharp axe. Temple Pujari Puniram Das saw the attack and immediately informed the hotel owner, Biren Das. By the time both reached the spot, the murderer had beheaded the victim woman. Both Biren Das and Puniram Das captured the accused, tied him with a rope, and informed the police. Sources said that murderer Abed Ali allegedly tried to molest the victim, a woman with special needs. But, she refused and tried to escape. Fearing exposure, the accused killed the victim.
