NEW DELHI: As the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) approaches its centenary milestone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release a commemorative postage stamp and coin dedicated to the organisation on October 1. The event will be held at the Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi, a day ahead of the RSS completing 100 years of its establishment on Vijayadashami (October 2).

Sources confirmed that RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabole will also be present at the ceremony, which is being organised jointly by the Department of Posts and the Ministry of Finance. Both the stamp and the coin have been specially designed to reflect the historical and ideological significance of the Sangh’s centenary year.

The RSS was founded on Vijayadashami in 1925 by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur. Since then, it has grown into one of the most influential socio-cultural organisations in India, with a widespread presence across the country and abroad. The centenary year, beginning this October, is expected to witness a series of events and commemorations highlighting the Sangh’s role in shaping India’s social and cultural landscape.

Prime Minister Modi, in his recent Mann Ki Baat radio address, had also acknowledged the significance of the centenary. He noted that Dr. Hedgewar’s vision behind the formation of the RSS was to free India from the mindset of “intellectual slavery” and instill self-confidence among the people.
