A man was arrested on September 25, 2025, in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan on charges of spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, according to a senior police official.
The Crime Investigation Department (CID-Intelligence) unit of Rajasthan Police apprehended Hanif Khan, a resident of Basanpeer Jooni in Jaisalmer. He is accused of providing confidential Army information to the Pakistani agency in exchange for money.
Dr Vishnukant, IG CID, stated that the Intelligence team has been closely monitoring espionage activities in the state. During their surveillance, they detected suspicious behaviour by 47-year-old Khan.
Investigations revealed that Khan had allegedly maintained regular contact with Pakistani intelligence via social media. With easy access to border areas, Khan reportedly shared information about key military installations and Army movements during interrogation. “He was in communication with a Pakistani handler during Operation Sindoor, providing details about the Army’s movements,” the officer stated.
Further investigation and technical analysis of Hanif Khan’s mobile phone confirmed that he had been supplying critical military intelligence to the ISI in exchange for money. Based on solid evidence, the CID Intelligence filed a case under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and arrested Khan on September 25, 2025, the officer said. This is the fourth espionage-related arrest in Jaisalmer this year.
