Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed confidence in the integration of the Pakistan-occupied J&K with India, in the near future. He said that the POJK will be merged with India not because of any military intervention, but as an impact of the aspirations of the people of POJK to remerge with India.

Defence Minister is on a two-day visit to Morocco, a North African country. This is the maiden visit by an Indian Defence Minister to Morocco. While addressing the Indian Community, Rajnath Singh said that slogans are being raised by the people of POJK to merge with India. Thus, he expressed confidence in reuniting with POJK that has been illegally occupied by Pakistan, not because of the Indian Army or because of any aggressive steps, but due to the demands of the very people of the region.

“PoK will be ours on its own. Demands have started being made in PoK, you must have heard sloganeering,” Singh said during his interaction with the Indian community in Morocco.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh further recalled his earlier visit to the Kashmir valley where he spoke about the automatic integration of the POJK into India due to the impulsiveness of its people. ‘Main Bhi Bharat Hoon, That day will come. We need not attack and capture POJK’, Rajnath Singh reiterated while speaking about the pulse of the people of POJK, during an earlier address in the Kashmir valley.

As a testament to the statement of the Defence Minister, in the month of August, thousands of people held massive street protests and demonstrations in Rawalakot, a major town in POJK. They raised slogans while demanding freedom from Pakistan. Such protests and anti-Pakistan rhetoric are said to spike in POJK in the coming days as well, given Islamabad’s deliberate neglect of the region, which is devoid of any development.

Experts opine that people of POJK are suffering from decades of neglect, poverty, unemployment, poor infrastructure and economic backwardness. They are struggling to get even the basic amenities. Thus the frustration of the people in POJK is piling up day-by-day and these years of hustle will indeed burst out in the near future.

People of POJK are agitated against Pakistan even more, as the innocent youths of the region are hijacked by the terrorists and are radicalized to fulfill the selfish goals of Pakistan. In the previous months when the funeral was held in POJK for the young men who succumbed to death during a conflict with the Indian Armed Forces, the villagers protested against the terror leaders of LeT who attempted to attend the funeral ceremony. They ousted the terrorists from attending the funeral and yelled at them for radicalizing and misusing the young men. Such repeated spiraling of anti-Pakistan sentiment in POJK will align the people of the region more towards India.
