Hyderabad, Sept 19: The Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM) has announced the launch of a nationwide Swadeshi–Swavalamban Abhiyan (SBA), emphasising the integration of economic, social, and spiritual strength to achieve Bharat’s self-reliance. The announcement came at a press conference ahead of the organisation’s All India Working Committee meeting in Hyderabad on September 20–21, 2025, held at the Osmania University Guest House.

Explaining the choice of venue, SJM leaders said, “This meeting emphasised that Swadeshi into South India, and hence this baitak is being organised in Telangana State.”

The organisation noted that Bharat was currently facing “serious internal and external economic challenges.” At the same time, it underlined that domestic reforms had simplified GST into two slabs, kept inflation and bank rates in control, and brought unemployment to low levels. According to SJM, “The 6–8 percent growth achieved, along with a 10 percent consumer demand increase in the August quartile, shows that Bharat continues to rise even during intense global challenges.”

On the international front, the Manch expressed concern over multiple crises including the Russia–Ukraine war, the Israel–Gaza conflict, Chinese dumping of cheap products, and US trade barriers. It pointed out that “the WTO has remained silent and uninfluential in these matters where it had to active part to control trade tariffs.”

Particularly critical of Washington, SJM said, “The USA has imposed a 25 percent tariff on Indian products along with 25 percent additional tariff in the name of Russian oil imports, amounting to 50 percent. This is not justified and not tolerable. As a result, India’s exports to the USA are negatively influenced—86 Billion USD of exports worth nearly 40 billion USD are facing difficulties.”

SJM welcomed the Centre’s response, noting, “To overcome this situation, the Government of India has explored export opportunities in 40 countries, while also boosting consumer demand and products. Alongside GST liberalisation, the Government of India and the Prime Minister, has strongly supported the SJM’s call for Swadeshi usage (Vocal for Local).”

Lauding this stand, the Manch declared, “We wholeheartedly appreciate the Prime Minister and Government of India for their commitment to Swadeshi and Swavalamban movement.”

The SBA will be rolled out with farmer, consumer, trader, and employment associations invited to promote Swadeshi products in daily life. SJM has planned over 200 Swadeshi Melas, Swadeshi Vyapari Jutans, Swadeshi Sankalp Rallies, and Udyamita Protsahan Sammelans. Crores of Swadeshi–Videshi suchi and Swadeshi patrak will also be distributed to spread awareness.

Calling for public participation, the Telangana unit urged citizens to “make our country as fully employed and wealthy country in the near future by using Swadeshi products.”

The press conference was addressed by CA R Sundaram, National Convener SJM, and Satish Kumar, National Jt Organising Secretary. It was also attended by Kashmri Lal, National Organising Secretary, Prof. RK Mittal, National Co Convener, Dr S Lingamurty Ji, South Zone Convener, Archana Meena, National Mahila Pramukh, and Rajeev, National Intellectual Cell Head.
