Andhra Pradesh Assembly pass resolution congratulating PM Modi for GST reforms

CM said the historic reform will further strengthen cooperative federalism, promote ease of doing business, speed of doing business and support labour-intensive sectors. It will boost consumption, drive investment and contribute to sustained growth trajectory of our nation’s economy. These reforms will usher in growth of Indian companies leading to a Swadesh Consumption pattern in the future and will make Indian brands become global

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for landmark decisions taken by the 56th GST council regarding GST rationalization.

Praising Narendra Modi for introducing GST reforms aimed to boost Indian economy, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu moved the resolution on September 18. He said the visionary step in simplifying and rationalising the GST structure will directly benefit the common man and reduce compliance burden on businesses and enhance transparency in tax system.

CM opined that the GST reforms will benefit all sections of people in the country and help to achieve double digit growth in the country. He said the GST reforms will boost Indian economy to a tune of Rs 2 lakh crore.

He said the historic reform will further strengthen cooperative federalism, promote ease of doing business, speed of doing business and support labour-intensive sectors. It will boost consumption, drive investment and contribute to sustained growth trajectory of our nation’s economy. These reforms will usher in growth of Indian companies leading to a Swadesh Consumption pattern in the future and will make Indian brands become global.

Speaking on GST reforms in AP Legislative Assembly monsoon session today, the Chief Minister said the GST reforms provided an opportunity to people to celebratge the coming Dasara, Deewali and other festivals in a true spirit with reduced prices of essential commodities with cut in GST. He said the 5 tier GST reforms will remove complications in tax structure and there will be no harassment of officials as they are framed in more transparent manner.

The Chief Minister said  that he is going to form a cabinet sub committee and prepare action plan to take forward the GST reforms and to bring awareness among people. He said that the GST reforms should be visualized and the opportunity should be utilized to achieve 15 per cent growth rate in Andhra Pradesh. Welcoming the GST reforms the Chief Minister appealed to Ministers and MLAs to take lead to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing people friendly GST reforms through introducing a resolution in the Assembly session. He also praised the efforts of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman for the next gen GST reforms. He said GST awareness programme should organized from September 22 to October 20 in the state.

He also thanked Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman for her exemplary leadership in securing unanimity in the GST council for these reforms. The Assembly unanimously supported and passed the resolution.

Meanwhile Minister for Finance Payyavula Kesav moved another resolution appreciating Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for giving strength to the second generation GST reforms. He said Chandrababu Naidu strongly supported the move in the interest of common man, though state revenues might face short term losses. The House unanimously supported and passed the resolution.
