“INS Aravali will be not only a hub of technology, but also of collaboration linking our platforms and partners across the oceans — a true embodiment of our Prime Minister’s collaborative vision of MAHASAGAR, and a step that strengthens India’s role as the Preferred Security Partner in the Indian Ocean Region,” said Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), at the commissioning of the Indian Navy’s latest Naval Base at Gurugram on September 12, 2025.

The CNS highlighted that the new base provides the foundation for robust administrative and logistical support, in line with the Navy’s expanding scale and sophistication of facilities, thereby ensuring seamless operations. Congratulating the Commanding Officer and commissioning crew, he urged them to uphold the Navy’s core values of Duty, Honour and Courage, “as you chart your course towards Excellence through Information Dominance.”

At the commissioning ceremony, Admiral Tripathi was presented a 50-men Guard of Honour. Captain Sachin Kumar Singh, the first Commanding Officer of INS Aravali, recited the invocation in Sanskrit and read the commissioning warrant. The commissioning plaque was unveiled by Shashi Tripathi, President NWWA, after which the Naval Ensign was hoisted to the tune of the National Anthem. With the last note of the anthem, the commissioning pennant was broken on the mast.

The event was attended by Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS), Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (DCNS), senior naval officers and distinguished guests.

Named after the unwavering Aravali Range, the base will support the Indian Navy’s information and communication centres that form the backbone of its Command, Control and Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) framework.

Guided by the motto ‘सामुद्रिकसुरक्षायाः सहयोगं’ (Maritime Security through Collaboration), INS Aravali embodies a collaborative ethos, working seamlessly with naval units, MDA centres and allied stakeholders. Its crest features central mountain imagery symbolising the strength of the Aravali Range and a rising sun denoting eternal vigilance, resilience and energy — reflecting the dawn of niche technological capabilities in Communications and MDA.
