In a shocking incident, CI Srinivasulu of Yemmiganur town, Kurnool district, abused his power and behaved in an intolerant, atrocious manner during the Vinayaka immersion procession on August 29.

As Vinayaka murtis were being taken in procession, the police officer grabbed a microphone at Somappa Circle and openly hurled abuses at Hindu devotees in public. The same night, around 1 a.m. near the fire station, he indiscriminately beat a man without reason.

Emmigannuru, Kurnool (AP):
On 29th night, CI Srinivasulu abused Vinayaka devotees as “bast***s” & kicked them mercilessly during immersion.

This is not mere misconduct, it’s suppression of devotees’ Right to Freedom of Religion & Right to Dignity guaranteed by Constitution. pic.twitter.com/kXiR0FNi37

Again, on 31 August, during the annual traditional procession of Vinayaka from the Soganur Road Anjaneya Swami Temple to Ramaswamy Temple, the CI arrived with his staff and went further out of control. He abused an auto driver and assaulted him brutally, kicking him with booted legs and leaving him injured.

Such atrocious acts by the CI (Circle Inspector) created a situation that provoked deep anger among Hindu devotees. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad Andhra Pradesh unit has strongly condemned his behaviour, particularly the act of kicking devotees with booted legs, and has demanded immediate action.

The local Hindu organisation and VHP urged district senior officials to take action against CI Srinivasulu and punish him for his misconduct. VHP expressed solidarity with the Hindus who suffered in these incidents and resolved to take the matter to higher authorities until strict action is taken against the police officer.

Recently, In Prodduturu, YSR Kadapa district, police officer  P. Bhavana triggered widespread anger by imposing anti-Hindu restrictions on Ganesh festivities. The police ordered bhajans and mics to be switched off within 100 metres of mosques and during prayer times, besides demanding NOCs for pandals.
