A shocking video which has gone viral in Assam where it was seen that small kids of a government primary school were reciting Quran Ayat as morning prayer under the guidance of two teachers. The video which went viral on 15th August attracted sharp reactions from different sections of the society.

The incident took place in 619 Bhadragaon L P school in Bongaigaon district. The school has many Hindu students too. After seeing the video many Hindu parents lodged their protest against reciting the Quran aayat in the morning prayer.

The District Commissioner immediately initiated one enquiry of the incident. The District Education Officer (DEO) conducted an investigation and suspended the headmaster of the school Jeherul Islam and Sarbasiksha Aviyan CRC Nirmal Chaudhury for gross violation of standing government rules. Two other teachers of the school were also suspended with immediate effect by the authority.

It should be mentioned that the suspended school headmaster, Jeherul Islam confessed that he was using the Sura Fateha for the morning prayer ever since he joined the school in 2015. Locals said how dangerously these government school teachers are imposing Islamic religion to others in the name of morning prayer. They demand an investigation of the violations of the standing rules of the state government and an immediate stop of these ill practices.

Dibon Nath, a resident of Bongaigaon, said that no Muslim sings ‘Vande Maataram’ citing religious reasons but our children are forced to recite Sura Fateha in the morning prayer. It is unjustified and unacceptable, he said. Notably it is not the first such incident, many complaints of such incidents where Hindu students were compelled to recite Islamic prayers in school in Muslim majority areas surfaced earlier also.
