On August 1, the winners of the 71st National Film Awards were officially announced by the jury during a press conference held in New Delhi. The complete list of winners for the 71st National Film Awards was revealed on Friday, August 1, at the National Media Centre in New Delhi.

Among the key highlights, Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey were awarded Best Actor for their standout performances in Jawan and 12th Fail, respectively. Rani Mukerji was honoured with the Best Actress award for her compelling portrayal in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.

The 71st National Film Awards celebrate the finest achievements in Indian cinema for 2023, a landmark year marked by box office successes and powerful storytelling. The winners showcase the creativity, diversity, and talent that define the country’s film industry.

A major highlight was Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail, which won the prestigious Best Feature Film award. Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey shared the Best Actor in a Leading Role award for their compelling performances in Jawan and 12th Fail, respectively. Rani Mukerji received the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for her powerful portrayal in Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was honoured for its wide appeal and vibrant storytelling, receiving the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Meanwhile, the war biopic Sam Bahadur, based on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, won the National Award for Best Feature Film Promoting National, Social, and Environmental Values.

The awards come after a remarkable year that saw the release of popular Hindi films such as Pathaan, Animal, 12th Fail, OMG 2, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, The Kerala Story, and Adipurush. The Telugu film industry also delivered standout films like Dasara, Month of Madhu, Balagam, and Sita Ramam, showcasing the rich regional diversity of Indian storytelling.

The 71st National Film Awards continue the proud tradition of celebrating cinematic excellence, highlighting the dynamic and far-reaching impact of Indian cinema on audiences around the globe.
