Responding to the Prime Minister’s invitation, the Ministry of Defence, in partnership with MyGov, has launched the Independence Day Celebrations 2025 initiative.

Independence Day 2025: How can citizens take part?

People from across the country are invited to engage in a series of national-level competitions aimed at fostering patriotism and promoting unity, especially among the youth.

Participants are encouraged to submit artworks, essays, quiz responses, and design entries that pay tribute to the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and celebrate the nation’s legacy of courage and resilience.

Since its launch in 2014, the MyGov platform has become a key channel for citizen engagement in governance, fostering direct interaction between the public and the government. Likewise, the NaMo App—Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official application—serves as a personalised hub for updates on national policies, initiatives, and campaigns.

As India nears the 79th anniversary of its independence, this year’s celebrations are expected to spotlight themes like national unity, digital progress, and a vision for the future, paving the way for the landmark 80th year of independence in 2026.

Prime Minister Modi’s public appeal comes shortly after his 100-minute speech in the Lok Sabha, where he detailed the success of “Operation Sindoor”—a recent cross-border mission aimed at preventing unrest and demonstrating the strength of India’s armed forces.

“I speak today to present India’s stance and hold a mirror to those who fail to grasp it,” he said. “We have full faith in our armed forces and gave them complete operational freedom. Their response was so decisive that the masterminds of terrorism are still reeling from its impact,” the Prime Minister asserted.
