In a fiery continuation of the Operation Sindoor debate in Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of echoing Pakistan’s narrative and weakening India’s fight against terrorism. “The country is surprised that Congress has given a clean chit to Pakistan. They are saying the terrorists of Pahalgam were from Pakistan, give us proof of this. Pakistan is also demanding the same thing Congress is asking,” said Modi, drawing parallels between opposition remarks and Islamabad’s official stand.
Modi expressed deep concern that Congress has increasingly relied on Pakistan as a source of political rhetoric. “On one hand, India is moving rapidly towards self-reliance, but Congress is becoming dependent on Pakistan for issues. Unfortunately, they are importing their politics from across the border,” he said, accusing the party of aligning itself, knowingly or unknowingly, with enemy propaganda.
Referring to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 civilians were killed in a targeted religious massacre, Modi criticised Congress for demanding proof that the attackers were Pakistani. “This is a matter of shame. At a time when the nation is united in mourning, they are playing into the hands of the enemy,” the Prime Minister said.

He also condemned Congress MP Praniti Shinde’s now-expunged Lok Sabha remark calling Operation Sindoor a “tamasha.” Modi called it an insult to the victims of terrorism: “It is like putting acid on the wounds of the 26 Indians martyred by terrorists.”

Taking a swipe at Congress’s long history of undermining India’s armed forces, Modi said, “Negativity for the armed forces has been the old attitude of Congress. Pull up all of Pakistan’s statements and compare them with those made here, the punctuation is the same. Terrorists are crying, their masterminds are crying, and seeing them cry, some people here are crying too.”
In response to opposition allegations that the armed forces were restrained by the government, Modi clarified, “Rahul Gandhi says the government tied the hands of the military. But the truth is, we gave our forces full freedom to choose the time, place, and method. Operation Sindoor is proof of that.”
Modi confirmed that Operation Sindoor is still ongoing and warned Pakistan of dire consequences if it miscalculates. “If Pakistan dares to commit any mistake, they will have to pay a heavy price. On May 9, they fired 1,000 drones. Had a single one of those missiles landed on Indian soil, the outcome would have been devastating. But our forces intercepted and neutralised them in the air. Every Indian should be proud of this.”

The Prime Minister also took aim at critics who questioned why the operation was stopped. “During the surgical strike, they tried one tactic. During the Balakot airstrike, another. With Operation Sindoor, they tried a new one, ‘Why did you stop?’ Wah re bayan bahaduron! The entire country is laughing at your excuses.”
