Guwahati: Eight Bangladeshi intruders arrested in Bongaigaon district of Assam have disclosed sensational facts about the porous international border and how infiltrators entered Indian territory. The intruders were arrested on 22nd July in Bongaigaon railway station while trying to board a train said that they had entered India through the Meghlaya border at night.

The Bangladeshi intruders entered the Indian territory at the night of July 21 and according to them they crossed the border as there were no guards to prevent them. The fencing in the border also collapsed due to heavy rain and it was easy for them to cross it as there were no guards.

The intruders who were arrested by railway police told the media that the barbed wire fencing collapsed due to heavy rain and they easily crossed it to the Indian side as there were no guards.

They were planning to travel to Chennai to work in a garment factory and crossed the international border from Jamalpur in Bangladesh to Meghalaya.

One arrested intruder also said that there may be others who have crossed to Indian territory along with them but they were not in their group.

The railway police in Bongaigaon station launched a crackdown after a video went viral where dozens of people suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals were seen roaming in the station premises. So far eight intruders have been arrested, but there is fear that many others are still at large who have crossed the porous border. Meanwhile the local police are at high alert.

The arrested intruders were questioned by police for further investigation. But it is for sure that the unmanned border in the hilly terrain of Meghalaya are giving opportunities to the infiltrators to easily cross over to the Indian side.
