Divyanshi Bhowmick creates history at 29th Asian Youth TT championship 2025, wins gold in U-15 girls’ singles title

India’s young table tennis sensation, Divyanshi Bhowmick, has created history by becoming the first Indian in 36 years to win the U-15 Girls’ Single title at the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships. The 14-year-old Indian table tennis player defeated China’s Zhu Qihi with 4-2 in a high-pressure final to claim the Gold Medal for India.

This remarkable achievement marks a new era for Indian table tennis. Divyanshi, seeded second in the championship, showcased her skill and determination by defeating three top-ranked Chinese players in her journey to the title – an unprecedented feat in Indian Youth Table Tennis history.

Her standout performance came during the semifinals, where she edged past China’s Liu Ziling in a thrilling seven-game battle that kept India’s gold medal hopes alive. With this victory, Divyanshi Bhowmick also secured qualification for the upcoming World Youth Table Tennis Championship.

Earlier this year, Divyanshi was named Best Women’s Player (Overall) at the Table Tennis Super League (TTSL) Maharashtra, further cementing her reputation as one of India’s most promising young athletes.

India wrapped up its campaign in Tashkent with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals. The mixed doubles pair of Ankur Bhattarcharjee and Taneesha Kotecha won bronze after a close semi-final defeat against South Korea’s Kim Gaon and Park Gahyeon. The Under-15 Boys’ team secured silver medal, while the Under-19 Boys’ team claimed bronze.

Divyanshi Bhowmick’s historic gold medal is being hailed as a defining moment for resurgence of Indian table tennis on the international stage.
