RailOne App Launched: Indian Railways Unveils Smart Travel Platform

FacebookTwitterWhatsAppTelegramEmail

For every Indian who has ever waited in a long queue for a train ticket, hunted for a porter on an overcrowded platform, or fretted about where his train is, here is some good news. Indian Railways has launched RailOne, a new mobile application designed to make your rail trip smoother, smarter, and hassle-free.

The app was officially inaugurated on July 1 by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, during celebrations of the 40th Foundation Day of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). RailOne, as the Minister called it, is a giant leap in the Railways’ continued endeavour to make life easier for passengers by leveraging the strengths of technology.

A Single App for everything

RailOne has been carefully crafted to bring the most essential railway services to the fingertips of passengers using a single application. Passengers can now book unreserved tickets, purchase platform tickets, and even receive a 3 per cent discount on these if done via the app. No more waiting in long queues in crowded station counters because your phone is your ticket.

The app also has real-time train tracking so the passengers can get the exact spot of their train whenever they want. This decreases tension and uncertainty while travelling. Furthermore, RailOne takes care of multiple other needs that the passengers usually have difficulty fulfilling. You can utilise it to make a reservation for a porter to assist with bags, order food to be delivered to your seat through its e-catering facility, or book a taxi for the final stretch of your travel. All this can be done without placing a single call or leaving the premises of the station.

Where things go awry or feedback has to be communicated, RailOne has a simple grievance redressal system. This allows the concerns of the passengers to be heard and resolved without any difficulty.

Simple, Secure, and Space-Saving

One of the greatest strengths of RailOne is how simple it is. Found on both the Android Play Store and the iOS App Store, the app allows users to access with an mPIN or with biometric credentials such as a fingerprint. This provides fast and secure access. Existing RailConnect and UTS credentials are also supported, meaning long-time users of these services can simply switch over without any hassle.

Travellers no longer have to download multiple individual apps for tickets, train status, meals, or complaints. RailOne integrates these services into a lightweight app that saves phone storage and eases the life of travellers.

The Future of Reservations is Here

Whereas RailOne will deal with unreserved and platform tickets, reserved tickets will still be reserved through IRCTC in the same manner. But Minister Vaishnaw announced that by December 2025, Indian Railways intends to launch an entirely new Passenger Reservation System (PRS), which will set new standards for efficiency and comfort for passengers.

The new PRS is designed to cater to many more users. It will handle ten times the existing load. The system will be able to process 1.5 lakh bookings per minute of tickets and respond to 40 lakh enquiries per minute, which will provide smoother service even during peak bookings. The system will have advanced features such as seat selection, fare calendars, and special provisions to facilitate easier bookings for Divyangjan (person with disability), students, and patients. It will also be multilingual and available to Indians from all parts of the country in their preferred language.

Powering India’s Digital Rail Revolution

The introduction of RailOne and the transformation of the PRS are testimonial indications of the government’s emphasis on positioning Indian Railways as more than a people and goods mover but a logo of Digital India. As Minister Vaishnaw noted, these initiatives are aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of turning Indian Railways into the growth engine of India’s development journey. The aim is to create a truly inclusive and world-class mobility platform that serves every citizen with dignity and convenience.

A New Era for Every Passenger

Whether you’re a student grabbing the last train home for the holidays, a commuter racing the clock, a retired person seeing the relatives, or an adventurer on your way, RailOne ensures your journey becomes less of a hassle. No need to fret about getting the proper app or service, no more queuing, and no more wondering where your train is. With RailOne, the strength of Indian Railways is in your hands now, ready to serve you every step of the journey.

RailOne is now available for download on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. With this new instrument, Indian Railways invites all travellers to the future of train travel, easier, smarter, and connected than ever before.
