In a dramatic escalation of tensions in the West Asia, US President Donald Trump has publicly demanded the “unconditional surrender” of Iran and issued a veiled threat to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declaring that American intelligence knows his exact location.
In a series of posts on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there, We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now.” In another emphatic post, he declared in all caps: “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”

Trump’s online threats came shortly after a high-level, one-hour-and-twenty-minute meeting with his national security team at the White House Situation Room on Tuesday. According to sources familiar with the discussions, including a senior intelligence official and a Department of Defence official, President Trump reviewed military options as the conflict between Israel and Iran entered its fifth day.
The reports confirm that Trump is actively considering joining Israel’s ongoing strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, with serious discussions underway inside the administration. CBS News reported that Trump is contemplating joining Israel’s multi-day military campaign targeting Iranian nuclear infrastructure.

Further fuelling speculation, Axios cited two Israeli officials who revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli defence establishment believe Trump is likely to join the war in the coming days to help destroy Iran’s underground enrichment facilities.
The situation took another turn after Trump abruptly exited the G7 Summit in Canada. Arriving on Sunday, the president left suddenly late Monday night, landing at Joint Base Andrews just before 5 a.m. on Tuesday. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt attributed his early departure to the intensifying crisis in the West Asia. “Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State,” she posted on X.

Trump’s social media posts have added further tension to the unfolding scenario. He asserted American superiority over Iranian defences, stating, “Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff.’ Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.”
His warnings extended beyond Iran’s leadership to include general threats against any Iranian aggression. “But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin,” he wrote.
In a separate address aboard Air Force One, the president expressed frustration over Iran’s failure to re-enter negotiations. “They should have done the deal. I told them, ‘Do the deal,’” he said. “I didn’t say I was looking for a ceasefire. We’re looking for better than a ceasefire.”

Trump emphasised that while military options are being considered, diplomacy is not completely off the table. He indicated he might dispatch Vice President JD Vance and special envoy Steve Witkoff for talks with the Iranian side. “He may decide he needs to take further action to end Iranian enrichment. That decision ultimately belongs to the president,” Vice President Vance stated.
As the conflict between Israel and Iran rages into its fifth day, over 200 people have been killed in Iran, most of them civilians, while Israel has reported at least 24 civilian deaths following extensive missile and drone strikes from both sides. With Israel having already caused significant damage to Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, speculation grows that US military support could deal a final, decisive blow.
