The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a significant victory in the recently concluded bypolls for local bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions in Rajasthan, winning 27 out of 36 seats. With an additional seat won by a BJP-supported candidate, the party’s total tally reached 28 seats. This marks a notable increase from the 15 seats the party previously held.
BJP State President Madan Rathore attributed this success to the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies and the welfare schemes initiated by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma in a press meet. Rathore congratulated all winning candidates and credited the victory to the blessings of the people of Rajasthan and the dedicated efforts of party workers. He stated that the growing trust of the people in BJP was clearly reflected in these bypolls results.
For the Congress party, the bypoll results were disappointing. The 15 seats Congress previously held, the party managed to retain only 4. BJP leaders said this outcome reflected Congress’s diminishing public support and weak leadership. Rathore emphasized that the people of the state have reaffirmed their faith in the development-oriented and transparent governance provided by the BJP at both the central and state levels.
Breaking down the results, BJP won 5 out of 6 seats in the district council bypolls, while Congress failed to open its account in this segment. In the Panchayat Samiti bypolls, BJP secured 12 out of 18 seats, Congress won 3, and the remaining 3 were taken by other parties and independent candidates. In municipal by-elections, BJP candidates won 10 out of the 12 seats contested.
