Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi emphasised that Ahilyabai was not merely a ruler but a significant social reformer, whose life and achievements inspire us all. He described her as a remarkable embodiment of women’s empowerment, effective governance, and social service during the state-level celebration of the 300th birth anniversary of Punyashloka Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar at Jaydev Bhavan, Bhubaneswar.
During the event, the Chief Minister noted that Ahilyabai Holkar secured an everlasting place in Indian history through her sense of justice, courage, and unwavering dedication to her people. Her legacy continues to guide us towards good governance and social welfare in contemporary Odisha. He highlighted that the state is home to many empowered women and that, like Ahilyabai, we must champion justice, education, and equality in society.
The Chief Minister also announced the state government’s historic Subhadra Yojana aimed at empowering mothers, fostering their economic, social, and self-reliance.

Majhi reiterated the commitment to strengthen and uplift society by drawing lessons from Ahilyabai’s life. He pointed out that as the nation faces challenges, women are once again at the forefront, recalling that just days earlier, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted the vital role women played in Operation Sindoor.
In conclusion, the Chief Minister stated that Operation Sindoor represents more than a military endeavor; it symbolises the power of women. He recalled Odisha’s recent cultural festival Savitri Vrat, connecting it to the vermilion that Sati Savitri used to confront Yamaraj, the God of Death. He affirmed that Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to protect the dignity of this sindoor, warning that anyone who threatens it will face dire consequences. The Prime Minister’s message assured the nation: “India is in Safe Hands,” with widespread sentiment echoing, “If Modi is there, we are safe.”
