Ranchi: Security forces in Jharkhand met with another success as they gunned-down a Maoist terrorist in an encounter in Palamu district on late May 26.
The gunfight broke out near the Sitachuan area of Palamu on Monday, resulting in neutralisation of a hardcore Maoist commander. Several other Maoists are also said to have sustained injuries in the gunfight.
The deceased has been reportedly identified as Tulsi Bhuiyan, a top commander of the proscribed group. Sources said that the operation was launched targeting Nitesh Yadav, a seasoned Maoist carrying a reward of Rs 15 lakhs. Yadav has reportedly sustained a bullet injury in the gunfight.
Personnel of Jharkhand Jaguar and police was involved in the operation following inputs of maoists planning to carry out a major incident in the area. The security team has also recovered a Semi Loading Rifle (SLR) from the site of encounter and an extensive search operation is underway in the vicinity.

It is noteworthy that the security forces has amped up anti-Maoist operations in insurgency-hit areas of Jharkhand lately.
Earlier on Monday official informed about the neutralisation of hardcore Maoist Manish Yadav during a gunfight that broke out between the extremists and security team in Dauna area under the jurisdiction of Mauhadand police station of Latehar on Sunday.
Yadav, a cadre of the outlawed CPI-Maoist was carrying a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head. The security team during the operation also apprehended another hardcore Maoist Kundan Kherwar carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh.
This comes hours after the police in an operation launched in Latehar gunned down Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parisahd, (a splinter group of CPI-Maoist) Chief Pappu Lohra and zonal commander Prabhat Ganjhu on May 24.
A seasoned Maoist of the breakaway faction, Lohra was named in around 100 cases and carrying a bounty of Rs 10 lakh on his head. He was also named in a case related to murder of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deputy commandant. The Police also recovered arms and ammunition from the site of the gunfight.
