Kochi Harbour Police have taken into custody a man from Kozhikode, Mujeeb Rahman, for impersonating an official from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in a phone call to the Kochi Naval Headquarters.
The incident occurred when Rahman allegedly called the Naval Base posing as ‘Raghavan’ from the PMO and sought details about the location of the Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, during Operation Sindoor.
Following a complaint filed by naval authorities, the Kochi Harbour Police registered a case and launched an investigation. The case has been registered under Section 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with impersonation.
Investigators traced the call to two phone numbers and subsequently took Rahman into custody. He is currently being interrogated as part of the ongoing probe.

Navy officials, suspecting the nature of the call, immediately alerted the Kochi Harbour Police. A detailed investigation based on the mobile phone number used for the call led to Mujeeb’s arrest. He was taken into custody from Elathur, and is currently under interrogation.
Authorities have confirmed that Mujeeb used a fake identity during the call. The police, acting on a complaint from the Navy, have also begun examining his social media accounts. The Official Secrets Act will be invoked against him.
