Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid the foundation stone, and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth over Rs 58,000 crore in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, on 2nd May.
Among the key initiatives, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Missile Test Range at Nagayalanka, valued at approximately Rs 1,460 crore. This facility will include a launch centre, technical instrumentation infrastructure, indigenous radars, telemetry, and electro-optical systems, significantly bolstering the nation’s defence preparedness.
Stating the significance of the Nava Durga Testing Range at Nagayalanka, PM said, “It will act as a force multiplier for India’s defence strength, drawing inspiration from Maa Durga’s divine power.”

The PM also laid the foundation stone for a series of major infrastructure developments in Amaravati, including the construction of the Legislative Assembly, High Court, Secretariat, various administrative buildings, and housing for over 5,200 families, with a cumulative worth exceeding Rs 11,240 crore.
Complementing this are trunk infrastructure and flood mitigation projects, featuring a 320 km world-class transport network with underground utilities and advanced flood management systems, valued at over Rs 17,400 crore.
He also inaugurated seven National Highway projects, aimed at improving connectivity to prominent religious and tourist destinations such as Tirupati, Srikalahasti, Malakonda, and Udayagiri Fort. In addition, he laid the foundation stone for six more National Highway projects and one railway project, all designed to further enhance seamless transportation links across the region.
The railway works include doubling the rail line between Bugganapalle Cement Nagar and Panyam stations, enhancing connectivity between Rayalaseema and Amaravati, and the construction of a third rail line between New West Block Hut Cabin and Vijayawada. The Rail-over-Rail project between Guntakal West and Mallappa Gate stations is intended to bypass freight traffic and ease congestion at Guntakal Junction.
Furthermore, the Land Pooling Scheme Infrastructure projects, totalling over Rs 20,400 crore, will span 1,281 km of roads fitted with central medians, cycle tracks, and integrated utility corridors across the capital region of Amaravati.
Additionally, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the PM Ekta Mall at Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam, envisioned to showcase and promote indigenous products under the One District One Product initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi said: “Amaravati is a land where tradition and progress go hand in hand, embracing both the peace of its Buddhist heritage and the energy of building a developed India.”
He extended greetings to the people of Andhra Pradesh and offered prayers to Bhagwan Veerabhadra, Bhagwan Amaralingeshwara, and Lord Tirupati Balaji. He also conveyed his best wishes to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
He recalled the honour of laying the foundation stone for Praja Rajadhani in 2015.
Quoting former Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao, he affirmed: “NTR Garu dreamed of a developed Andhra Pradesh. Let us all come together to transform that dream into reality and make Amaravati the growth engine of a developed India.”

In a special announcement, the PM revealed that the 10th International Day of Yoga, to be observed on 21st June, will be celebrated in Andhra Pradesh, and that he will personally attend the event.
The grand occasion was graced by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Syed Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Cabinet Ministers, and other distinguished dignitaries.
