Patna: In a shocking development reported from West Champaran district bordering Nepal, two Madarsa students have been taken into custody by the police after they were found in possession of 25 Pandrol clips taken out allegedly from railway tracks, said police on April 26.
According to the details, both the youths were caught while a team of the railway staff was out patrolling between Gurhanwa and Kundawa-Chinpur railway stations.
The team was inspecting the railway track when they noticed a group of 4-5 youths with a bag on Friday morning. Sensing the presence of the railway team the group tried escaping the scene during which two of the youths were caught by the team. The railway team then immediately informed the police and handed over the youths to them subsequently.
The youths were taken into custody and are being interrogated. According to railway officials they were receiving reports of missing pandrols from the said location for quite sometimes. Both the youths however have claimed that they were returning from the said location when they found the pandrol clips unattached and lying in open after which they picked them up.
The said clips are used to provide balance to the trains passing through the tracks by reducing vibration of the tracks. According to the officials, removal of pandrol clips from a particular area may lead to mishap.
Notably, incidents linked with causing disturbance on railway tracks has also grabbed the attention in the past as well, alarming the authorities to intensify patrolling at sensitive and remote locations. Additionally incident of stone pelting on trains have also been reported from separate locations, prompting the authorities to keep a vigil watch.
