New Delhi: In a notable development, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved the final alignment for the 240km long “Ram Janki Path (route)”, connecting Ayodhya and Sitamarhi of Bihar.
The culturally significant project which is being constructed with a cost of Rs 6155 crore will connect Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir and Punaura Dham (Birth Place of Maa Jaanki) in Sitamarhi of Bihar via Siwan and Saran district.
According to the report, the Ministry’s alignment approval committee recently gave node to the alignment between Masrakh of Saran to Bhittha Mod of Sitamarhi, marking the completion of the alignment procedure of the religiously significant project.
The Ram Janki Path upon completion will benefit the devotees visiting the religiously significant places connected to the Ramayana via road.
The 240km long route commences at Mehrauna Ghat near the interstate borders of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and ends near Bhittha mod near Nepal border, passing through Siwan, Saran, East Champaran, Sheohar and Sitamarhi districts.
Notably, tenders for work between Mehrauna to Siwan and Siwan to Masrakh have already been done with an estimate cost of around Rs 1254 crore and Rs 1351 crore respectively.
Now after the approval of alignment for Masrakh to Bhitta Mod, covering around 150 kilometers via Chakia, Sheohar and Sitamarhi, the land acquisition process and tenders allotment procedure are likely to commence soon. The total estimated cost here is around over Rs3500 crore.
It is worth recalling here, that the Union Government in October last year had also approved a project related to doubling of 256km railway tracks between the two religiously significant sites with an estimated cost of around Rs4563 crore.
The approval was given days after the state government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar requested the Union Government for doubling of the railway tracks between the two locations.
The state government in September last year commenced the land acquisition process (50 acre) near Purauna Dham as part of the government’s effort to elevate the infrastructure and development of facilities for the devotees visiting the sacred site.
State government to develop ‘Harihar Mandir Kshetra’ and other religious sites
Significantly, the state cabinet had also approved tourism department’s proposal to develop notable religious sites in the State in a meeting held in February this year.
The proposal included of overall development of the Harihar temple area in Sonepur, various development work at Someshawar nath temple at Areraj, Siheneshwar Sthan at Madhepura, Kusheshwar Sthan of Darbhanga, Pooran Devi temple in Purnia and others.

The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting led by CM in the first week of February, where the cabinet accorded nod to a record 136 proposals related to various development projects.
