Ten members of a Muslim family from Deoband in Uttar Pradesh have returned to Sanatan Dharma after nearly five decades. The family, which had been living as Muslims for generations, participated in a grand Ghar Wapsi ceremony at the Yoga Sadhna Yashveer Ashram in Baghra, where they renounced Islam and embraced Hinduism once again.

The purification ritual was conducted with Vedic chants, led by Peethadheeshwar Yashveer Maharaj, who emphasised that the family had converted to Islam under compulsion and had now chosen to reclaim their ancestral faith. Acharya Mrigendra Brahmachari officiated the Shuddhikaran Yagya (purification ritual), marking their spiritual re-entry into Sanatan Dharma.

According to Yashveer Maharaj, the elder members of the family had left Hinduism and accepted Islam around 50 years ago due to certain pressures. However, in a dramatic turn of events, after celebrating Eid this year, the family decided to return to Hinduism, shedding their Islamic names and adopting Hindu identities.

The family’s transformation was led by Rajkumari Kashyap and her son Brijesh Kashyap, who played a pivotal role in the Ghar Wapsi. To mark their return, the family members renounced their Islamic names and took on traditional Hindu names:

Speaking about the significance of the event, Yashveer Maharaj stated, “This is not just a religious conversion; it is a return to one’s roots. Many people in history were forced to leave Sanatan Dharma, but today, awareness is spreading, and people are reclaiming their heritage.”

The family expressed relief and joy, stating that they had always felt disconnected from Islam and wished to return to the faith of their forefathers. They now plan to live fully as Hindus, following Sanatan traditions.
