On March 15, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) targeted Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for allegedly making frequent trips to Vietnam and other countries without public disclosure. The party pointed out that such undisclosed trips by the Leader of the Opposition raise concerns about national security.
Addressing a press briefing, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “New Year’s in Vietnam, Holi too in Vietnam? I have been told he has spent 22 days in Vietnam. He hasn’t even spent that much time in his own constituency, Rae Bareli.”
He also raised concerns over Rahul Gandhi’s ‘curious’ and ‘extraordinary fondness for Vietnam.’
Amit Malviya further claimed that such frequent visits to Vietnam posed serious national security questions. Asking the Congress party to reveal details about Rahul Gandhi’s ‘frequent’ visits abroad, BJP’s national IT cell head Amit Malviya took to X and said, “As the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi holds a crucial position, and his numerous clandestine trips abroad, especially while Parliament is in session, raise serious questions about propriety and national security.”
Rahul Gandhi’s recent trip to Vietnam comes amid the ongoing Budget session in Parliament.
His last trip to Vietnam, following Manmohan Singh’s death on December 26, also drew sharp criticism, with the BJP stating that the Congress leader left for New Year’s celebrations while the country was mourning Dr Manmohan Singh’s demise.
“Rahul Gandhi politicised and exploited Dr Singh’s death for his expedient politics, but his contempt for him is unmissable,” Malviya had said.
Interestingly, the Congress party, which regularly shares photos and videos of Rahul Gandhi’s visits, has kept this trip completely secret.
Notably, the BJP has levelled serious allegations against Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of being aligned with anti-India forces and media platforms purportedly working to destabilise India.
Last year, on December 5, BJP leader Sambit Patra referenced a report from the French media outlet Mediapart to substantiate these claims. According to Sambit Patra, entities such as billionaire George Soros, US-based agencies, and the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) form part of a “dangerous triangle” with Gandhi to foster instability in the country.
It is also worth noting that top officials from Rockefeller, JP Morgan, Boeing, and US deep-state-associated companies are visiting Vietnam this week. Executives from more than 60 large US companies will meet top Vietnamese officials, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and General Secretary of the ruling Communist Party, To Lam.
George Soros also has a significant presence in Vietnam. Fulbright University Vietnam is part of Soros’ Open Society University Network, and many Soros-funded NGOs are active in the country.
In September last year, reports surfaced that students of this university and Soros-funded NGOs were planning a “colour revolution” in Vietnam, though the university rejected such claims.
Last month, former US President Donald Trump claimed that the Biden administration allocated USD 21 million in funding to India for “voter turnout.”
Additionally, Salil Shetty, the Vice President of Soros’ Open Society Foundation, was seen participating in the Bharat Jodo Yatra alongside Rahul Gandhi. This high-profile appearance has raised eyebrows, as it underscores the growing collaboration between Soros-backed entities and the Congress leadership. Shetty, an advocate of global democracy and human rights, may be seen as aligning with a broader ideological agenda, which some argue could be at odds with India’s national interests.
The most troubling aspect of this alliance is the role of George Soros himself in shaping the discourse surrounding India’s economic and political landscape. Soros, a billionaire investor known for his political interventions worldwide, has allegedly given crores to weaken Narendra Modi Government. His organisation, the Open Society Foundations, has funded various causes that seek to influence political outcomes in multiple countries and India appears to be no exception.
Rahul Gandhi’s outspoken criticism of billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani has served as a focal point for this foreign-backed influence.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has publicly acknowledged Soros as an “old friend,” further solidifying the deepening relationship between Soros and the Congress party.
