ABVP should act as a bridge between student organisations in the Northeast: Union Minister Amit Shah

Union Minister Amit Shah on the concluding day of ABVP'S three-day Youth Parliament

New Delhi: The three-day Youth Parliament organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad concluded on March 11. On the last day, North-East Youth Parliament was held at NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi under the joint collaboration of ABVP and Student’s Experience in Interstate Living (SEIL).

The historic youth parliament witnessed the participation of 170 representatives from 95 student organisation across the seven states of north-east. Furthermore, 50 representatives from ABVP’S Northeastern branches and 50 representatives from various northeast student organisations based out of Delhi marked their presence. The event saw participation of prominent student union including All Ollo Student Union, All Mishmi Student Union,All Tai Khamti Singpho Student Union, All Meyor Student Union,All Idu-Mishmi Student Union,All Sherdukpen Student Union,All Monpa Student Union,All Tutsa Student Union (Changlang & Tirap) and many others. The event was graced by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the Chief Guest along with others including Shri Mukund C.R., Joint General Secretary of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS),Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, ABVP National Organising Secretary Shri Ashish Chauhan, ABVP National General Secretary Dr.Virendra Solanki, SEIL Trustee Sunil Vasumatary, ABVP National Secretary Kamlesh Singh,ABVP Arunachal Pradesh State Secretary Biki Yadar and other senior leaders.

During the North-East Youth Parliament students expressed their views on education, health, connectivity, toursim, environment,business, entrepreneurship, drug issues, border security and other crucial issues. There was an in-depth discourse on various demanfds such as acceralting the development of infrastructure, strengthening roads, railwaysand digital aspects, improving education quality, number of universities and hostels in region, promoting tourism through cultural exchange,empowering trade and boosting handicraft industry, awarness campaigns for de-addiction and stronger strategies for border security.

Union Minister Amit Shah in his address stated, “North-East is a priceless gem of our culture. The region is not only unique in diversity but also its cultural heritage, traditions and beliefs are an integral part of our nationality. Over the past decade, we have made concrete efforts to bring the North-East into mainstream of national development. Today, peace and stability have been established in the North-East resulting in a 70 per cent reduction in insurgency, a decline in martyrdom of security forces and 89 per cent decrease in civilial death rate. In recent years, more than 10,500 insurgents have surrendered and laid down arms. We are committed to preserving the cultural,linguistic and traditional heritage of Northeast.

The government is bringing effective flood control plans for the region under which construction of more that 300 new lakes is proposed. Meanwhile, compared to 2014-15, there has been a 153% increase in budgetary allocation for the northeastern states in 2024-25, reflecting our commitment to the development of this region. The government is committed to strengthening the peace, development, and unity of the Northeast, and in the coming years, this will be further reinforced.”

He, in his address, further added that today if any student organisation discusses character building, it is only Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. ABVP prioritizes the nation. If you want to be at par to the future of Bharat, you must join ABVP. At the same time, ABVP should also act as a bridge between the student organisations of the North-East.

ABVP National General Secretary Dr.Virendra Solanki stated, “ABVP has always played an active role in the security, cultural unity and overall development of North-East Bharat. Whether it is the issue of illegal infiltration from Bangladesh in Assam or initiative of awakening national consciousness through Shaheed Jyoti Yatra, ABVP has shown determination on every front. Under the SEIL, efforts have been made to strongly connect the North-East with national mainstream. This North-East & Youth Parliament is not just limited to dialogues but also a step to ensure student participation in policy-making under which the decisions are taken and demands are conveyed to the government.”
