Jharkhand: NTPC’s deputy general manager shot dead by criminals in Hazaribagh

The criminals opened fire on DGM Kumar Gaurav when he was on his way to NTPC Keredari office on Saturday morning

Hazaribagh: In a shocking development, a senior official of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)  was shot dead by unidentified criminal in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district on March 8.

The tragic incident unfolded at around 9.30 in the morning, when Deputy General Manager (DGM), NTPC, Kumar Gaurav was on his way to NTPC’s Keredari office. The crime took place near Fatah area under the jurisdiction of Katkamdag police station limits.

The criminal opened fired on Kumar leading to fatal injuries in his back. He was immediately rushed to Arogya hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Kumar was a resident of Bihar’s Nalanda district.

The police on the other hand have launched an investigation into the matter and raids are underway to nab the criminals involved in the incident. The incident has sent a shockwaves across the region, leaving officials of the NTPC and other residents in a state of fear. More details about the incident are still awaited.

Significantly, the crime occurred hours after criminals fired shots on a coal businessman in Bariyatu of Ranchi. The injured businessman Vipin Mishra was immediately rushed to the hospital where he is being treated.

The audacious acts of the criminals has triggered critical responses from the state’s opposition leaders who have criticized the state government over the status of law and order in the state.

Notably, the opposition leaders in the state have been long accusing the incumbent government for going soft on mafias and their henchmen involved in illegal businesses such as coal and others.
