In the recent Telangana Legislative Council (MLC) elections held on February 27, 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved significant success by winning two out of three contested seats, delivering a notable setback to the incumbent Congress party.

In the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates’ constituency, BJP-backed candidate Chinnamail Anji Reddy defeated Congress’s V. Narender Reddy by over 5,000 votes. The counting process was prolonged due to the preferential voting system, with Anji Reddy securing the win after multiple elimination rounds.

Additionally, BJP-backed Malka Komaraiah won the Medak-Karimnagar-Adilabad-Nizamabad Teachers’ constituency, defeating his nearest rival, Vanga Mahender Reddy, by a margin of 5,777 first-preference votes.

The third seat, representing the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachers’ constituency, was secured by independent candidate Sripal Reddy Pingili, who is affiliated with the Progressive Recognised Teachers’ Union (PRTU).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude towards the people of Telangana for their support and congratulated the BJP’s newly elected candidates. He also commended the party workers for their diligent efforts among the populace.

I thank the people of Telangana for blessing @BJP4Telangana with such phenomenal support in the MLC elections. Congratulations to our newly elected candidates.

I am very proud of our Party Karyakartas who are working among the people with great diligence.@MalkaKomaraiah…

Home Minister Amit Shah posted on X stating “Gratitude to the people of Telangana for blessing the BJP with a thumping victory in the MLC election. Your trust inspires us to serve even harder.”

Gratitude to the people of Telangana for blessing the BJP with a thumping victory in the MLC election. Your trust inspires us to serve even harder.

This is a triumph of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji's untiring efforts to develop the state. Heartiest congratulations to Telangana BJP…

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy highlighted the significance of this victory, stating that it reflects the party’s growing stronghold in the state. He emphasized that despite Congress deploying all its ministers, MLAs, MPs, and investing heavily, they could not retain the Karimnagar Graduate seat. Reddy noted that this outcome sends a strong message to Congress, which came to power by making false promises to the people.

He added, “With elections spanning across 13 districts, 43 assembly constituencies, 6 parliamentary segments, and 270 mandals, this victory is significant and reflects the growing stronghold of the BJP in Telangana. The party is emerging as a powerful force in the state.”

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, commented that the BJP team, led by Kishan Reddy, had emerged victorious in the “Champion Trophy” of the MLC elections held in Telangana. He stated that the election result serves as a lesson for the Congress, which has been siding with a particular community.

This is just the beginning—BJP is growing stronger in Telangana! 🚩

As we celebrate the 2 MLC victories, I feel deeply thankful, especially for the trust Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji has shown in us.

He remarked that while Muslims united in an attempt to defeat the BJP, the Hindu society collectively defeated the Congress and presented the party with a “Ramzan gift.”
