Saas-Bahu Sammelan by RSS: Confluence of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law pairs from different communities

Growing incidents of breaking of families has raised an alarm and it is time to protect the sanctity of unity of families as a unit. The influence of media on vulnerable and naïve women is one of the reasons causing the destruction of this unit. It is crucial to protect the pillars of families, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, to save this unit

Barmer: To strengthen family relationships, a unique Saas-Bahu Sammelan was organised by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Barmer, where mother-in-law and daughter-in-law pairs from different communities were seen. This conference was organised in the local Jangid Samaj Bhavan of Barmer on March 2.

In the conference, women shared their experiences and highlighted the importance of the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in the society. They talked about living together like mother and daughter. During the programme, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law pairs were honored by giving shawls and souvenirs.

It is the mother-in-law’s duty to treat her daughter-in-law as her daughter: While addressing the Beti programme, a mother-in-law said that she treats her daughter-in-law like a daughter. Due to this, her family has stayed united since many years. When her daughter-in-law came to her in-laws’ house, she had passed 12th class. After this, she was made to complete her further studies at her in-laws’ house and also got her NEET done.

It is hoped that she will also get a job in the coming time. It is the mother-in-law’s duty to treat her daughter-in-law like a daughter, so that the family can run well. At the same time, the daughter-in-law should also fulfill her duty while taking care of the dignity of the house. Same way, a daughter-in-law said that every mother-in-law wants that her daughter-in-law should be good, that is why every mother needs to give good values to her daughter. The mother-in-law should treat the daughter-in-law as a daughter so that she can live happily in her in-laws’ house.

There will be ups and downs in human life: Senior RSS pracharak Nandlal Baba linked the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law to the ups and downs in life and said that these relationships are important because difficulties keep coming in life. Giving an example, he said that Bhagwan Ram also had to spend 14 years in exile and Krishna was also born in prison. He said that the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in the family is the basis of love and the whole family is connected with this love. Staying together in happiness and sorrow, performing one’s duty and taking the name of Bhagwan will help in running the vehicle of life smoothly.

Mutual relations in the family should be strengthened: Addressing the conference, RSS Barmer division Sanghchalak Manohar Lal Bansal said that such a programme about mother-in-law and daughter-in-law was probably seen for the first time in Barmer. It has been organised by RSS. He said that these days RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat is discussing in detail the topic of ‘Kutumba Prabodhan’ under Panch Parivartan, an initiative undertaken by Sangh from centenary year. This topic has become important due to the influence of western culture in our society forgetting the importance of family and increasing incidents of breaking of families.

Such incidents cause great pain to the mind. In such a situation, the relationship of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in the family should be like that of mother and daughter. Along with this, it is very important to have values in the family and there should be regular communication between the family members.
