“One’s own actions will burn them”: TN BJP says “Get out Modi” slogan will backfire on DMK

As a tit-for-tat response, BJP supporters launched their own trending hashtag, ‘Get Out Stalin’, which amassed a world record of over 14 million tweets. The trend was initiated by Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai on February 21, and it quickly gained traction across Bharat and globally

The Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s call for the social media trend ‘Get Out Modi,’ which was launched in protest against the alleged non-release of central funds for schemes like PM-SHRI.

In a strongly worded statement, Tamil Nadu BJP State Spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of engaging in diversionary tactics to hide its failures in governance. “The anti-Tamil and destructive forces that dared to say ‘Get Out Modi’ to Prime Minister Modi, a true Tamil son, will soon be eradicated from politics. The DMK government, which is unfit to govern Tamil Nadu, should be immediately dissolved. Yet, the Modi government is magnanimously saving the DMK regime,” he said.

Modi’s Contribution to Tamil Nadu’s Development

Prasad highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contributions to the state, particularly in promoting the Tamil language. “To honor the greatness of Tamil and promote its global recognition, Prime Minister Modi, as a true Tamil son, has followed the path of Thiruvalluvar and governed in accordance with the teachings of Thirukkural,” he asserted. He further pointed out that the Modi-led central government had allocated ₹1.68 lakh crore for Tamil Nadu’s development over the past 11 years, in stark contrast to the ₹8,053 crore received during the Congress-DMK-led UPA regime.

He also criticised Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for aligning with the Congress, which he claimed had historically betrayed Tamil Nadu. “By keeping the Congress in its alliance and chanting ‘Get Out Modi,’ Chief Minister Stalin has, in reality, distanced himself from the hearts of the Tamil people,” Prasad remarked.

Law and Order Concerns in Tamil Nadu

The BJP leader went on to paint a grim picture of the law and order situation under the DMK regime. “Under DMK rule, Tamil Nadu has become a state where people live in fear due to rising crime against women, drug abuse among students and youth, murders, robberies, and general lawlessness. DMK’s anti-people governance has turned Tamil Nadu into a state that has never seen such oppression since India’s independence. The government is fostering a haven for communal, separatist, and extremist forces, allowing criminals and drug mafias to thrive,” Prasad stated.

He expressed grave concern over crimes against women, including murder, robbery, rape, and sexual harassment, stating that these brutal incidents have created an atmosphere of extreme insecurity for women. “Instead of addressing these pressing issues, Chief Minister Stalin and his heir-apparent, Udhayanidhi Stalin, are trying to divert public attention by promoting the hashtag ‘Get Out Modi’ online, spending crores to manipulate public discourse through social media influencers,” he alleged.

DMK’s Alleged Political Gimmicks

Prasad further accused the DMK and its allies of indulging in corrupt politics while ignoring real governance. “The DMK and its allies, including Congress, act as if there are no other issues in the country. They engage in corrupt politics, sharing looted wealth among themselves. From Dravidian model leaders to newly emerging political parties, none offer real change for Tamil Nadu—only disappointment. The Tamil people have already dismissed these parties from their minds, just as they reject their ungrateful slogan ‘Get Out Modi,’” he said.

He urged the people of Tamil Nadu to be vigilant, recognise the political drama orchestrated by the DMK, and deliver a strong message in the 2026 Assembly elections.

BJP’s Counter Campaign – ‘Get Out Stalin’

As a tit-for-tat response, BJP supporters launched their own trending hashtag, ‘Get Out Stalin’, which amassed a world record of over 14 million tweets. The trend was initiated by Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai on February 21, and it quickly gained traction across Bharat and globally.

‘DMK Biting the Hand That Feeds Tamil Nadu’

Prasad further accused the DMK of distorting facts regarding the Modi government’s policies on language and education. “For the nation’s progress, Prime Minister Modi has tirelessly worked to implement numerous development projects for Tamil Nadu. He has ensured that government school students can learn Tamil along with their preferred language. Yet, the DMK distorts facts, falsely accusing Modi of imposing Hindi and disregarding Tamil students’ welfare. Is it fair, Chief Minister Stalin, to engage in such petty politics?” he questioned.

Comparing the DMK’s approach to the mythological demon Bhasmasura, he said, “Just like Bhasmasura, who turned against his own benefactor, the DMK is biting the hand that has fed Tamil Nadu’s growth.”

BJP Defends Modi Government’s Stance on Tamil Nadu

Despite mounting criticism from the DMK, Prasad asserted that the Modi government had protected Tamil Nadu’s interests by not invoking Article 356 to dismiss the state government. “Unlike the dictatorial Congress regimes of the past, the Modi government believes in the spirit of democracy. It has chosen not to dismiss the DMK government despite its failures in constitutional machinery,” he said.

He warned the DMK to mend its ways or face correction, cautioning against pushing Tamil Nadu toward a forced regime change. “For political gains, the DMK and its allies are making unfounded accusations against the Modi regime, falsely claiming step-motherly treatment toward Tamils. However, history will prove who truly worked for the people of Tamil Nadu,” he concluded.
