The Mahakumbh celebrations have sparked immense enthusiasm in Nepal, the birthplace of Maa Janaki. More than 50 lakh devotees from Nepal have taken a holy dip in the sacred Triveni Sangam at Prayagraj, participating in the world’s largest cultural gathering. The grand event, organised under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has attracted devotees from across the world, including Nepal.
Devotees from Nepal have brought holy Akshat (rice) and other sacred offerings from Janakpur, the in-laws’ place of Bhagwan Ram, to present to Bade Hanuman Ji. At the same time, they are carrying back Ganga water and soil from Sangam, which they consider an invaluable spiritual heritage. The deep faith of Nepalese devotees in Bade Hanuman mandir and Akshay Vat is evident in their rituals and reverence.
Besides participating in the holy bath at Sangam, Nepalese devotees are increasingly drawn to visiting Shri Ram in Ayodhya and Baba Vishwanath in Kashi. The sacred sand and Ganga water from Sangam are being taken back to Nepal, where they are used in various religious ceremonies.
Shri Ram Sigdel, President of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Banke Chapter), stated that holy Akshat has been brought from Janakpur and offered at the Bade Hanuman mandir on the banks of Sangam. He also emphasized the significance of Sangam’s sand and Ganga water, which Nepalese devotees consider a priceless heritage. Many applied it on their foreheads before taking it back home for religious rituals.
The arrangements made by the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government for Mahakumbh have received widespread appreciation. Shri Ram Sigdel acknowledged the unparalleled management, which has ensured a smooth and hassle-free experience for Nepalese devotees traveling to India.
New clothes, jewellery, fruits, dry fruits, dishes, dhoti-kurta, towel etc. were brought as gifts from the maternal home of Maa Janaki in Nepal. These gifts are further increasing the religious prosperity of Mahakumbh.
With the construction of the grand Shri Ram mandir in Ayodhya and the revitalisation of Vishwanath Dham corridor in Kashi, Nepalese devotees are increasingly drawn to these sacred sites. Every day, lakhs of devotees from Nepal are arriving in Prayagraj for Sangam bath, further elevating the spiritual aura of Mahakumbh.
With Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s efforts, Mahakumbh 2025 has become a historic and unforgettable event, attracting devotees from all over the world and strengthening the spiritual bond between India and Nepal.
