As Maha Kumbh 2025 witnesses an unprecedented gathering of over 50 crore devotees, the world is applauding the seamless organization, safety measures, and digital innovations implemented by the Yogi Adityanath government. From state-of-the-art facilities to an efficient lost-and-found system that has reunited thousands with their families, the event has set a new global benchmark for crowd management and spiritual harmony.
However, instead of appreciating this historic feat, opposition parties like the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, along with Islamist propagandists, have resorted to slander and misinformation.
SP MP Afzal Ansari’s remark about sins being washed at Mahakumbh, hell will be empty backlashes
Samajwadi Party MP Afzal Ansari has ignited a political storm with his controversial statements about the Maha Kumbh 2025, drawing widespread criticism from religious leaders and the public.
Ansari mocked the Sanatan Dharma and stated that if a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam cleanses sins, sarcastically stating that if everyone bathed, “heaven would be houseful,” implying that no one would remain in hell. His comments were perceived as an insult to the Sanatan Dharma and the sentiments of millions of devotees.
Further, he questioned the government’s handling of the event, alleging an underreporting of stampede casualties. He also made derogatory remarks about sants and sadhus, suggesting widespread cannabis consumption at the Kumbh Mela.
His statements have triggered public outrage, with many demanding an apology. Meanwhile a case was filed against Afzal Ansari by Dev Prakash Singh, a resident of Budhpur village of Birno police station area. While addressing the gathering, Afzal Ansari said, “On this festival of faith (Mahakumbh), it is believed that a person will become pure by bathing at the Sangam shore. Sins will be washed away. If sins are washed away, it means that the path to Baikunth will open up. In the situation that is visible, it seems that no one will survive in hell. No one will survive in hell and there (in Baikunth) the house will be full.”
In wake of the controversial remarks made by Ansari, a case has been registered against him under Section 299 and Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)1.

One such leader who openly denounced the Mahakumbh is the President of the Congress Party Mallikarjun Kharge who asked that if one takes the holy dip at Triveni Sangam, then will that help him to come out of poverty. He also stated that the BJP and its leaders were merely using Mahakumbh to click their pictures.

SP leader Jaya Amitabh Bachchan Once Again Puts Her Foot In Her Mouth
Samajwadi leader and Rajya MP Jaya Amitabh Bachchan took to the floor of the house and made a baseless remark about the holy water of Sangam Triveni being contaminated and the bodies of those who had died in the stampede that happened on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya were thrown in the river Ganga.
In response to Jaya Amitabh Bachchan’s controversial statement BJP MP Arun Govil, hit back at Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Jaya Bachchan’s remarks on Mahakumbh, questioning her claims about contaminated water and bodies of stampede victims being thrown into the river.
Govil demanded proof from Bachchan, stating that without evidence, she had no right to make such statements and claimed her remarks as baseless accusations. “Has she given any proof? She has not given anything, so she has no right to say all this,” he said while speaking with ANI.
He further accused the opposition of having no interest in India’s culture, religion, or Sanatan, but rather only seeking to politicize issues. “The opposition has nothing to do with our culture, religion, Sanatan, they only want to do politics,” said the BJP MP.
A netizen posted a video defying Jaya Bachhan’s claim.

In wake of the stampede that occurred at Mahakumbh due to overcrowding and breaking of barricades, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav quickly jumped onto the opportunity to criticise the UP government. Though 30 people lost their lives, the administration quickly brought the situation under control and crores of people were able to take the holy dip on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya.
